can't blame fowler for wanting out of this mess ASAP

verbeek probably made it clear to him that he preferred to move him ASAP as to give the young guys more playing time and fowler agreed to it knowing he wasn't in the team's future plans
I mean yes this is exactly what the media reported in September. Verbeek meet with Fowler (or his agent) and they agreed it was best they part ways, Fowler wanted it before the season. With out cap floor issues and Trouba almost traded around the draft, it seems clear to me, that Verbeek wanted to trade for Trouba before trading Fowler. Couldn’t get it done before season, was able to during the season and we got what we got.

Loved Fowler, wasn’t helping the team win games, and was blocking young talent from playing. The deal had to be made, So long and thank for all the fish.

Beautiful statement.

This:
"Thank you to the amazing Ducks fans who have supported me and this team over all these years. It was always an honor for me to play in front of you all at Honda Center. You made it a fun building to play in and always supported us, even in some difficult seasons. The support you all showed to me, even at such a young age, is something I will never forget."

doesn’t apply to a lot of you here but it does to me! And it made me happy to read it.
Beatiful indeed. Class act.

He irritated me with his soft play, "shin shots", and circling back in the zone a lot... but overall a solid, reliable player for us all these years (especially considering he played with so many crappy partners). Wish him the best.

Yeah those were some core Fowlerisms. Also skating the puck out of the offensive zone if a defender was pressuring instead of trying to chip it down the boards. Overall I didn’t mind him, although I wasn’t a fan of his conservative style, but that could’ve been due to development. I also felt like there was more offense there that he just refused to use.

That was always a combo I wanted ti see as a Ducks fan. Just here in Anaheim.
I wanted Fowler a few years ago (around 2020 or so). Tho, he wasn't available (and I never thought he would become available). He has some nice evasiveness in his skating that allows him to skate himself out of trouble and fire the puck up the ice. Really nice "Eat minutes, get puck up ice, play PP" for us right now. He fits pretty nice with Parayko, and we haven't been over-working them like crazy defensively which is also amazing.

That last sentence is the most important part, and exactly what we did wrong with him over the last few years. He’s absolutely a solid player when his role isn’t to carry a whole shitty team’s defense for 25+ minutes a night in all situations.
