The Twilight Zone
If it was just a move to save money, and the team is no better, which is leading to a locker room issue, then trading Trouba/Krieder wasn't "justifiable". It's hard to see the NYR path forward right now, but if these moves were done ramshackle, then certainly not justified.

I don't think it's to save money, it's to gain cap flexibility. They really had zero room to maneuver, with really no way out ... The worst contracts like Zibanejad are immovable. The young guys and the pipeline aren't impactful enough.

They really had no good way forward, besides minor moves that would not avert a slow bleed over several seasons. They gotta take some steps back, to avoid a bottoming out.

He’s also winning a lot of board battles, clearing the front of our net and seems to pinch well and get his shots through. I’m very happy with Trouba. You can tell he’s trying to keep it simple for now. Soon we will see those huge open ice hits he’s famous for
Open ice hits are fun but I would honestly prefer he continued playing the way he is.

I feel like going for open ice hits is what causes the type of defensive play that Rangers fans were complaining bout

The fear of getting hit is as old as hockey itself. You have to throw one every so often to keep that fear alive. Good hitters know when to attempt them.

I agree that we don’t need him to go out of his way. But I’f the hit becomes available, we want him to take it no?
The threat of Trouba stops the run at Leo in a dangerous part of the ice. Clean hit, semi dirty play knowing he was going to get hit into our goalie basically. The check is not finished with Trouba in the ice…. In my opinion

He is an upgrade over gudas and clearly makes out team better right away. I like the open ice hits to keep skill forwards play with their heads up and think of something other than scoring pretty goals but you have to pick you spots.

He is complementary to so many players and looks like a warrior.

Love it so far wish we had him to start the season.

To me his the difference from being a Mickey Mouse club to a legitimate playoff contender.

Now we just have to stay healthy and the kids young kids have to start scoring and we will be very dangerous.

Even his “fake” hit cause players to dump the puck in, get alligator arms, etc. Like someone else said, the threat of being hit can be a big deterrent.

Yea some players are scared to skate up the wall against him and just give it up.

Another thing was last game there was a battle for a loose puck in front of the net. He just put his glove in a guys face and took him down instead of trying to tie up their stick. We need way more of that.
