They’re on record as wanting the Gulls to make the playoffs though. That doesn’t help the Gulls make the playoffs, and sitting is the worst thing that you can do for his development after he’s starting to figure it out.

Yeah there's no way they spend all that money on Husso to help the Gulls, then turn around and take Luneau away to sit in the pressbox. We can find another Lagesson type (on waivers or for a late pick) to fill the 7th role

Verbeek is such an interesting GM.

Sometimes he makes really savvy moves like this, the Cutter trade, and the ill-fated Dadonov trade. But other times he seems kind of clueless.

I guess it's just part of the gig, nobody does everything right. But I hope he does more of this.

hindsight is 20/20.

But to flip a 4th to a 2nd takes some serious negotiation skills.

good return considering they gave up a 4th to get him. no more healthy scratches for mintyukov and zellwegger
Never understood why you would scratch minty. Zell i understand, but Minty is legit NHL ready.

Traff's scoring pace in the SHL is practically identical to Brandsegg-Nygard. He is 2.5 months younger and 2 inches taller as well. Not saying he has the same value; I would have taken Brandsegg-Nygard over Traff every day of the week feel free to get rid of the second or even add but that is just to show he has performed above his stock this year.

In the HA (where he only played 9 games) he trails only Lucas Petterson in PPG for DY+1 players this year. His pace in the HA is a bit better than Ohgren for example from a couple years ago.

This is definitely a legit player, with lots of room for development.

“Brian was good for us both on and off the ice, and we wish him well in New Jersey,” said Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek. “This wasn't an easy decision for us. We do feel this allows more opportunity for our young defensemen, who have proven they can play and succeed at the NHL level.”
I'm glad to see Verbeek take my advice I gave him only yesterday. ;)

Bravo. Honestly fantastic return.

It’s frustrating because these are the deals we should have seen every year for the past 5 years. Take overplayed vets and flip them at the deadline for a good returm
