At least Swiss cheese has places that are reasonably solid. I can't say the same for Sandstrom right now.

Presumably the Ducks could waive Reimer when John Gibson is cleared (3-6 weeks as of late September), so he could end up being reclaimed by the Sabres around the time the Spirit of Halloween stores close up shop.

I think it would be like normal waivers. Buffalo would be in line depending on the standings. A team lower than them could claim.

If no team other than Buffalo claims him then they can assign him to the AHL.

Also, until November 1st (I think), the waiver priority is based on last year's final standings.

Not sure if it is the rule or not but you definitely see players returning to the original team quite often if waived again.

He just needs to clear the teams in front of Buffalo to go back to Buffalo, but he needs to clear everyone else for Buffalo to be able to send him to the minors

Let's say there are 5 other teams in the league, and Buffalo is 3rd in waiver priority...

Scenario 1

1. Team A - no claim
2. Team B - claim
3. Buffalo - claim
4. Team C - claim
5. Team D - no claim

Team B makes the successful claim even though Buffalo previously owned the player's rights and Buffalo put in a claim

Scenario 2

1. Team A - no claim
2. Team B - no claim
3. Buffalo - claim
4. Team C - claim
5. Team D - no claim

Buffalo makes the successful claim as no one ahead of them put in a claim, but the player stays with Buffalo, as teams after them put in a claim

Scenario 3

1. Team A - no claim
2. Team B - no claim
3. Buffalo - claim
4. Team C - no claim
5. Team D - no claim

Buffalo makes the successful claim, and as no other team put in a claim, they can send the player to the minors

Scenario 4

1. Team A - no claim
