I don't get why people think we aren't McDavid bad. We are.

Our coaching sucks, and clearly will continue to suck. Our players are soft, one dimensional, heartless losers. It hurts, but it's the truth. Anyone who watched this past year can confirm that this team looks like the worst team in the NHL. Buffalo beat us up this past year. We lose to teams that we should easily beat, and look like crap doing it.

I honestly would not be shocked at all if we ended up last in the league. Then lost the lottery, of course.

No, don't say that. Keep the dream alive!

In all honesty, though, we could trade our entire roster and prospect pool for every single 2015 1st round pick, and still lose the lottery somehow.

And i know exactly how. That would be the year they add expansion teams. Lol they get the 1 and 2 pick in thr draft and he get ****ed yet again. Lol

No ****! We SET THE NHL RECORD for the most shots against in an 82-game season. Our first line got super-hot before the olympics and so did Bernier, it won us a ton of games. After the olympic break when teams figured us out and Bernier got hurt, we were HORRIBLE. We played HORRIBLE all year, we never had any dominant performances. Carlyle coming back pretty much just seals the deal.

We are most certainly McDavid bad.

I've learned to stop blaming the coaches for this, and start blaming players. cause coaching can only do so much

Of course we are McDavid bad!! The only teams worse than us have much better prospect pools all 1 year older and NHL ready, and, they are getting better picks than us again!.. The draft usually works like laundry for the bottom 10 teams... but we usually trade our first round pick and thus are like an old ****stained tighty whitey stuck in the door.

Yes, but he was entering his final year. Generally organizations want to avoid the uncertainty (and potential questions) of a coach without an extension.

However, Carlyle likely wouldn't agree to a one-year extension, so they had to give him two years.

IMO they had to do this if they wanted to give him a last shot next year. But I don't think they hesitate to make a quick change if they're slow out of the gate.

Mike Yeo and Ken Hitchcock were lame-duck coaches heading into the season. Their teams did OK.

Carlyle staying is one thing. Rewarding failure with a 2 year extension is a whole other beast.

All this talk about accountability and Carlyle gets rewarded for his horrible year. I'm sorry, but that is a joke. Don't know why the 2 year extension was needed.

say goodby to lupul kadri and gardiner

I think these players tuned him out.

i love our system of all five forwards collapsing down low in front of our
net so the point men can make plays and get clear shots on net. looking forward
to another 2 years of this.

Also our fourth line cannot play any more than five minutes a night but in randys world part of that time is with 10 minutes left in the third down by a goal. looking forward to two more years of this.

cant wait to watch hands of stone mclement get 20 minutes a night while our nifty mittens gets 12. looking forward to another two years of this

cant wait to watch us to get posession just to dump it in and watch the other team pick it up and attack our zone.looking forward to another two years os this.

cant wait to watch after a faceoff all forwards race to the ench to change the line so randy can have the matchup he wants but when that happens the opther team takes advantage of a 3 on 1 and scores. looking forward to another two years fo this.

I have been a leafs fan for 55 years and will till the day I die. I have watched a lot of great hockey and a lot of poor hockey over the years. I have seen a lot of great players and a lot of poor players. I have seen a lot of great coaches and a lot of poor coaches and I absolutely without a doubt put randy in the poor coach class.

I don't have a problem with Randy staying as HC. The problem I do have is how this team gives up on their coaches. I said it before and I will say it again, the players on this team need to be held accountable for.

This is two giant slides in like 3 years where the team was in a playoff spot and just fell off the rails. One would have to think that since they have stood behind the head coach and signed him to a new 2 year deal that It's the players that are going to start being shipped out.

And I have no problems with that decision at all. Two head coaches this team has given up on in less then 5 years. Epic collapses in 3 of the 5 and a inconsistent work ethic through out.

Now that management has said, we don't feel it's Randy's fault they must be ready to make some major changes through out the lineup.

I love HF Boards for the same reason people love watching a NASCAR crash: it's awful but you can't seem to take your eyes off it. This thread is another example.

How could anyone like the fact that Carlyle, who set records as a coach for most shots allowed BY FAR, was the head coach for both epic chokes and has ruined players, is coming back???

Hitch got 1 year. 1 YEAR! Carlyle gets 2?

Shanahan, Nonis, the entire Leafs management is god awful.

Joke of a franchise.

mcdavid bad? Take away the good goaltending we've had the last two years, and yes, we absolutely are mcdavid bad. Take away kessel too and we're mcdavid guaranteed bad

MLSE has the money to offer 2-4 years and can him the next. St.Louis, not so much. They've gotta mind their dollars and cents.

If there are changes to the actual people who are playing the game on the ice, then I don't mind RC returning. I'm sure the leash will be short though.

I dont think he's the right coach for the team

But I hot a feeling he is going to seriously reevaluate his coaching sttategys

I also want to say how much of a p*ssy move it is to extend Randy and fire assistants. As if the assistants had so much to do with their failure. This is such a cop out and is a fine example to set for your players.

Hey, if you suck, don't worry just blame anyone else.

If the leafs make the playoffs next year, then it basically prove you don't know jack ****. Let's see who is right.

In all fairness Carlyle's style does work when executed. You can't blame the HC for the players inability to clear the puck out of the zone, or missed defensive responsibility's. I think it's a case of players not knowing the system well enough, and that's on the players to learn. It's also a case of not a strong enough work ethic and probably a lower hockey IQ and or simply just not wanting it.

In all fairness you look through the tapes since Randy started coaching the team. Hell even when Wilson was here, The team goes through long phases where they simply don't put in enough effort. For such a young team to continually come out and be flat after a big win or playing a rival is just not acceptable on as regular basis as Toronto does it.

Most of the goals scored on us are failure to clear the zone, missed defensive responsibility's or giving the puck away. All stuff that happens on the ice because of players not following the game plan or simply making a bone head play. It's easy to blame the coach for the team losing and I am personally glad that the management will now have to look at making personal changes through out the lineup. and lay the blame where it belongs, on the players shoulders.

It is a bit of a cop out, but that's not the message I would take away from it as a player. They're pretty much saying this is your last shot. Show us what you got or you're next.
