They've noticeably improved their 5v5 offense since the Christmas break. Zibanejad is the only one of the 3 stooges who has raised his game. He deserves some credit. HIs line didnt miss a beat without Hunchback Kreider.

If Chytil continues playing like this, you live with the fact that he's made of glass. He's as dynamic as anyone on the team and that whole line looks great.

Borgen and Vaakaanainen might not be the greatest players in the world but they are competitors and are much more steady than Miller or Lindgren. Fox was a dominant force in this one and Schneider is looking better every game.

Thank you for the thread title :)

Good win against a team we should beat, and we did it with a bit of confidence. Hopefully they can build from that.
Fil line was great. It was the kind of game where you'd expect more from Panarin and Laf

Is the stagnation or regression of Lafreniere the most troubling thing about this season?
I'm not sure if there's really regression, or if this is just him.
There are certainly things he could be doing better, and he's looking lost in limited minutes on a dysfunctional PP1, but he's on pace for around 50 points, and 50-60 seems to be what he is.

Looking into a bit further:
Last season 28 29 57
this season (projected) 19 27 46
last 82 games 27 27 54

So goals are down a bit but he appears to be passing up some nice chances and his line is a bit of a mess currently.

The annoying thing to me is that we still have no idea what kind of player he is away from Panarin

despite all the losing and hand-wringing,of the last 6-7 weeks

NYR (- 2 vs .500) are totally in the mix for at least the WC2 playoff spot
no doubt they need to be better and more consistent
but no reason the 2nd run of 20 games should mean more than the 1st 20 or final 40
with 43 games remaining for NYR
just 2-1/2 behind Bruins(+3)
2 games behind Ottawa(+2)
1 Game behind Pitt/Habs/CBJ (0.500)
