I may be in the minority but I supported the Canucks taking the gamble and locking him in. When you have that kind of talent the mindset is you lock him in and do whatever you can to fix the issues. Unfortunately nothing has worked, which is genuinely surprising. The biggest gamble was always trading him and watching him do amazing things for another club. At least in my mind. The result here is the least likely one - that a professional athlete would fight this hard against all attempts to help him get his shit together.

Bear in mind this is coming from someone who has been hard on Pettersson since before the playoffs last year (and was completely disillusioned with him after the playoffs) so I'm not exactly biased in favour of him or anything. I just always thought the play was to lock him in and figure it the hell out.

This really does feel a little bit like management at their wits end or at minimum an escalation in pressure on Petterson to get with the program.

Up to this point the Canucks organization has been walking on eggshells when it comes to criticizing Petey this year. It's so blatantly obvious when you listen to Ricks post-game interviews. He can be harsh but fair in his assessments, but I've never felt he pushed anything over the line in his post-games. HOWEVER, he always stopped short when it came to Petterson and refused to call him out by name when every other player was fair game. You could tell that he really wanted to call him out numerous times, but stopped short and caught himself a few times before naming him.

This is a clear step up from the norm and had to have been done with a purpose from Allvin.

I find it curious Pettersson played way better while Miller was out. I do think there’s a personality clash


Some of the Canucks management seem old school and I wouldn’t be the slightest bit surprised if they traded Pettersson over miller. For fun’s sake I hope they do and he explodes

That didn't happen. Nylander was yelling at Matthews not Marner. Matthews responded by never returning to the game, and has been "injured" ever since.

Lmao what? He's like a disappointed father having to deal with 3 underperforming children (Miller, Pettersson and Tocchet). He's the only ounce of heart and leadership the Nucks have along with Garland.

Miller being out also meant that Petterson got to play with Hughes full time.

No one will want EP at his salary. There won’t be a kings ransom on either player. It won’t be an instant rebuild. It will be lateral moves at best.

A real axxx move by Alvin. Lowers the players value, publicly shames the player, lowers his self esteem and let's him know This is Miller's teams and Elias is basically a side piece.

Miller will be a nobody in 3 seasons, Petterson will be in his prime years. Classic Canucks

Legit question, why has EP been getting so much flack for what seems like a couple seasons? Is he lackadaisical or afraid to get dirty?

Also, it seems that Miller is the only constant in this Canucks soap opera. I remember they traded Horvat and kept Miller, why is it now Miller vs Petterson?
