I really hope Yzerman's involved with this situation. The Red Wings and himself could use a good invigorating splash like a Pettersson trade.
Don't quit your day job as your attempt at humor falls as flat as the Gabriel Landeskog comeback.Hughes has failed that locker room as a captain. Maybe they should name a new one?
That is such a bad trade for the Canucks.Red Wings get: F Elias Pettersson
Sabers get: F Marco Kasper, LHD Albert Johansson, F Vladimir Tarasenko, Red Wings 1st round pick.
Canucks get: F Dylan Cozens and G Cam Talbot.
C'mon let's get a three-banger trade going!
It really leads credence to what has been said about EP40 for the last few years and especially in the playoffs last year. Im surprised a GM said it so bluntly and openly in the media. They must be so fed up with him and feel ripped off with the contract they gave him. Here is the full quote of what I want to discuss without title character limitations:
I want to discuss this quote outside of any trade speculation. What the hell is any NHL GM doing saying comments like this to the media, nevermind a player you just had commit 8 years to your organization and you decided to make a top 5 paid player? NEVERMIND a CANADIAN market GM?
What the hell could possibly be the goal here with saying this aside from adding fuel to a speculative tire fire in the room. What I want to know is, did Alvin just help create a Drury situation? I can't see that quote being popular with players even if they have problems with him. And I imagine if he is now forced to make a trade with him for poor value that will be seen even worse.
Q&A: Canucks GM Patrik Allvin expects more from top players in 2025
In 2024, the Canucks have given their fans much to be thankful for — but, they've also failed many nights to play to their standard. Iain MacIntyre sits down with GM Patrik Allvin to discuss why the team has struggled with consistency and reflect on the season thus far.www.sportsnet.ca
i think he just means the canadian market will jump on this and not let it go. Whereas in say Anahiem or nashville it likely doesn't make waves. What does the bolded even mean? Are you saying that only U.S market GM's can be stupid?
Way to keep it going patrik
maybe, His value can only go up. No one is buying high on Petey after the last 2 years.Wondering if he's trying to drum up more trade market by keeping this out there?
Odd way to do it, at least to me.Wondering if he's trying to drum up more trade market by keeping this out there?
Your point does hold ground.Because the GM is potentially alienating his most expensive player while diminishing the value of the asset. Both run counter to the job description of a GM.

Agreed. They aren't this open in the media if this hasn't been discussed ad nauseam behind closed doors. They must be really frustrated with him at this point to call him out publicly. Think he's gone before his NMC kicks in.
NMC is active July 1. EP40 traded after the season and just before his NMC kicks in?Agreed. They aren't this open in the media if this hasn't been discussed ad nauseam behind closed doors.
He’s trying to motivate his player through the media. Clearly whatever has been said behind closed doors hasn’t worked. Now it’s not just Allvin on his ass to do better, it’s the whole hockey world.
Not coincidentally, Jim Rutherford is one of those old school hockey guys who had used this technique for decades.
But it doesn't exactly help his value. If their plan is to trade him, why advertise that he's a pouty malcontent that can't handle pressure and doesn't work hard.Agreed. They aren't this open in the media if this hasn't been discussed ad nauseam behind closed doors.
