Here is the full quote of what I want to discuss without title character limitations:

Petey has shown up to this point that he is an extremely talented, quality player that could and should be a No. 1 centre. I believe in him. I believe that he's capable. (But) he needs to mature and understand that there are certain expectations and it does not get easier. And you need to face the music when things don't go well.

I want to discuss this quote outside of any trade speculation. What the hell is any NHL GM doing saying comments like this to the media, nevermind a player you just had commit 8 years to your organization and you decided to make a top 5 paid player? NEVERMIND a CANADIAN market GM?

What the hell could possibly be the goal here with saying this aside from adding fuel to a speculative tire fire in the room. What I want to know is, did Alvin just help create a Drury situation? I can't see that quote being popular with players even if they have problems with him. And I imagine if he is now forced to make a trade with him for poor value that will be seen even worse.

Allvin, JR, Tocchet were in Pitt. Want to have their top guys do the same things that Sid did, in terms of commitment to practice, nutrition, off ice conditioning, etc.

But, I do agree, it doesn't do much to air this out in public.

When it comes to trade speculation, there are just very few players you don't immediately hang up the phone on. Everyone else, you listen. Highly unlikely you pull off a trade, but still need to listen.

What does the bolded even mean? Are you saying that only U.S market GM's can be stupid?

If they did something like Pettersson to the Rangers for Laf, Trochek and a decent prospect, would that make the Rangers' locker room more toxic or less? You have to think it would solve Vancouver's locker room issues.

This was already being discussed in the Pettersson thread, don’t really need another thread on the player.
What’s the problem with discussing it in the other threads , like it was before.

Especially since the other thread has “nucks GM speaks out” in the title.

A wise man once told me, you officially don't have to worry about it.

Thank god the GM said this

the coping in the canucks forum from a group of fans who have blamed everything on injuries

zero blame on peterson.......... I hate that mindset

Insanely talented player who can take over games
But a perfectionist that breaks down if everything doesn’t go right

Why criticize the GM? They’re paying him $11.6m AAV to have basically been a 70 point player since last calendar year and be a ghost in the playoffs.

Vancouver needs more out of him and the GM is rightfully calling him out. This is the NHL, there are expectations here
Because the GM is potentially alienating his most expensive player while diminishing the value of the asset. Both run counter to the job description of a GM.

Red Wings get: F Elias Pettersson

Sabers get: F Marco Kasper, LHD Albert Johansson, F Vladimir Tarasenko, Red Wings 1st round pick.

C'mon let's get a three-banger trade going!
