True. I just thought of acquiring someone in the sense of finding a silver lining, an opportunity. Fleury, Coglan & Lundmark strike me as being pretty good at #s 8,9 & 10.

Fleury is a better player than you give him credit for. He has played mostly 6/7 roles in the past. Certainly not the player everyone expected as a top 10 pick, but serviceable and likely better than most players that will be available on waivers.

The first time I saw Fleury play he was dominating Nolan Patrick physically in the Memorial Cup. Players careers can ark or decline to varying degrees. Luckily for the Jets Fleury was drafted ahead of Ehlers. But behind Michael Dal Colle and Jake Virtanen.

Jets are a good landing spot for him, I hope he sticks around for awhile. If/when the two injured players come back, may or may not be a spot for him.

Funny to see some of the same guys who commonly use the Kova and Chis couldn't make the jets roster so who cares if they leave... are now Hayden Fleury boosters.

He's a 7/8th Dman - he made Cernak worse... and he's coming off a pretty bad injury season.

Coghlan is the same scenario - he's a 7th D at best...

I'll say it again - its just baffling to see the Jets develop two good 3rd pairing D and by all reports really good locker room guys and just throw them away and replace them with real waiver scraps - who can't score at all.

I also think this is an ideal scenario to see if anything we have is able to play. We're not in the middle of a playoff battle. I guess it depends how long term Stan and Ville are

Wonder when we see CHL trades with Barlow and Yager involved?

Would think they get moved early in the season. Hopefully Barlow can play meaningful playoff games this spring.

I'm just curious if you think Heinola is better than Chisholm...Because that was always the battle. If Heinola hadn't got injured in preseason Chisholm was getting waived last year no matter what. Would you have let Stanley go to keep him and have a have a left side of the d of Josh, Samberg, Heinola and Chisholm this year? Seems a little light on the toughness side...Who'd be the PKers? Chisholm put up a -8 in 29 games last year, not sure he elevated his teammates either.

Kovacevic I think could have lasted here. But they chose a more offensive better skating guy in Capobianco. Which may have been a reaction to looking for somebody who could skate to protect Stan. Samberg-Kovacevic might have been a decent pairing though, we'll never know. Samberg and Schmidtty were probably better, minus the playoffs.

For me Coughlan was acquired to replace Capobianco. With Heinola graduating and Capo moving on, I am not sure the Jets expected the improvement from Kuzmin that we saw in preseason...he was struggling to stay on the Moose roster last year, and so I think there was a void for an AHL PP QB this year.

After losing Dillon and Schmidt the Jets probably wanted a veteran replacement. But being Winnipeg it's bargain shopping. At least Fleury has played for our d coach before so there should be some trust there.

I'd say Simon Lundmark is in the same situation as Chisholm last year, 3 year development, but on the defensive end, PK more than a PP QB. Given your praise of Miller's PP skills, and disdain of Pionk, do you think the Jets need more offensive depth, or defensive at this point from their d-men?

I could see Fleury lasting the entire season with the Jets. He's way better than Logan Stanley, that's for sure.

Jets have been missing a heavy right hand shot from the point for a while and scheif will not change his.game to a more mobile PP - pionk is just not delivering a booming shot from the point, miller is showing he can

Thank you. Kind of looks like Coghlan is a placeholder for Pionk or Miller.

Only other thing that may be ascertained is that Toninato is maybe a spot up on JAD in the depth chart.

After the Minny game thank heavens we don't see AJF and Shaw again on the PK this year.

Thing is if Miller is a shooter, Heinola was competing to be that guy here. And I think most people would keep Ville over Chisholm. Didn't follow Minny last year but kind of seems like Chisholm stepped in for Spurgeon? Or maybe he was the replacement for Addison, who they ditched.

I can see you p.o.v. but getting a 5th rd pick to be an NHL player is a development win.

3rd rd Kovacevic was an overager when drafted, he was a development win too.

At the same point with 2nd round Lundmark now.

I think the slow development process is like the Detroit model when they were successful, but the Jets aren't that successful, though they do rely on mentorship like Detroit did.

The thing that stands out to me is Chevy's message to the kids, which seems to have been received, that there is opportunity. But as TC closes there doesn't seem to be roster spots for any young players left. Maybe there will be a surprise.
