“If I’m a young player in the Jets organization today, I’m pretty excited about the opportunities in front of me. I’m working hard in the off-season to make sure I can take full advantage”

Chevy - July 2, 2024

By taking full advantage he meant show your ready for call up duty to eat 🍿 in the press box later in the year!

I was wondering if they would have Miller and Salo as the 3rd pairing. But it doesn't look that way, at least to start.

So why would the Jets keep Salo up as a potential press box 7/8th dman rather than playing 20+ minutes in all situations with the Moose?

Maybe it's the shortage of Moose games in October, but it seems odd they wouldn't just have Coghlan as #7 and go with a 22-man roster or keep 3 tenders for 23.

think helle missing and potentially missing tomorrow has complicated things, he may have made the team but maybe unable to play weds depending on the status of helle

the sequence of some posts and narratives through the summer is always great to look back on on how delusional some posters are. all those posts crapping on bowness for not playing kids and hyping arniel & predicting big roles for some prospects to start. yet here we are again.
some posters need a slice of humble pie and a cup of reality for real, wish i bookmarked a few more that i read tbh. the Jets line-up is honestly easily to predict and has been for years. in-season injuries or contract status/FA departures will propel youth forward it has almost always been like this.

They may also want to ease him in where they can shelter him against a weaker team like Chicago at the home opener on Friday.

Did you know that the oldest Jets player is Nino Niederreiter at 32? I just read his interview in a swiss newspaper and he has changed his diet to keep up with the young guns.

He also stated they had wasted too much energy at the end of last season and that their tanks were empty when they faced Colorado.

They didn't take full advantage

Neither Lambert nor Chibs showed that they're an upgrade for the spots they were competing for. Both got good, long looks at camp

Translation: "Again, we're going to be exactly the same, certainly."

It is a bit of a bummer, although Salo *may* have made the team which is a nice surprise

McGro made the Pens opening roster, would he have cracked the Jets roster this year or been sent to the ahl? Or does he look justified in his desire to leave our org if making the nhl this year was his goal

It's especially interesting to read the posts in the preseason about how good Namestnikov has fared at 2C. Who are Lambert or Chibrikov replacing this season in the top 6 then other than him? Would we rather put them with offensive black hole Lowry? Or maybe playing 7 minutes a night with Gus and Morgan Barron?

This team is run so poorly with its young players. It's the same thing every year with the garbage players on the roster. It never stops the Jets from playing those players constantly and throwing their young guys under the bus.

When the Jets do finally get rid of those dead weight players, if they get picked up by another team for a look, they end up getting waived by them as they're not good enough. It's all so ridiculous.

same management & promoted a coach already within the organization... why do ppl think there would be some fundamental change? i remember a poster shitting on bowness and being glad he's gone b/c he would have not had prospects on the team..... hope folks keep the same energy now for chevy (lol yea right, never his fault) & arniel.

the team was 30-12-5 with Names at 2C, and the 2nd line usually fairing better than the top-line (sans Ehlers). the entire top-6 or 9, really the entire fwd group to start last year was still under contract, easy to predict the group but hey wont someone think of the prospects!!!

I think the Lowry line is not a great spot for an inexperienced fwd whose game is suited for more offense. few years ago, i thought Vesalainen was terribly miscast for that line, he needed to play with higher offensive IQ or skilled players in my view & i think the same may be valid for Lambert. not to mention, the lowry line - including appleton - was fine last year. Appleton is commonly shit on for some reason. could they use an upgrade? sure, however it's not like his stats were worse than other 2 linemates & i am doubtful a prospect comes in and puts up 35-40 pts in that role.

and on the 4th line... this idea of a "prospect 4th line" is a bit out to lunch imo. i checked a handful of PO caliber or bubble PO teams a few days ago - granted it might be more pertinent to check again given the cuts - however, i think i counted maybe 2-3 players considered prospects over those ~10 or so teams. the Jets 4th line will go nights of sub-7 mins too like you mentioned. when they do, the subsequent posts of "you're ruining them" will come out. again, idk why ppl forecast or predict some huge change in philosophy when it's been the same management crew running the team, & they're doing what other similarly ranked teams are doing.

That is really the crux of the issue. We have one area to play young forwards given the preferred roster deployment. It's top 6 or bust.

Nothing really to do with being conservative, it's all about stubbornness with regards to the same deployment scheme we've run since 2018.

But it does seem like a kid did make the opening roster in Salomonsson so there is that.
