In The Midnight Hour
IDK how people are dealing with anxiety, depression or stress during this. I mostly smoke to calm myself and to sleep. Few days ago at work while training people as I was talking I felt an immense pressure on the back of my skull. Happened a few more time, once or twice yesterday. Not sure if anxiety and stress from working and overthinking while all this is going on but I also find myself more and more having a hard time winding down and relaxing because I am normally busy with multiple things.
I'm right there with ya. I'm working every day, but unwinding every evening is much different than ever before.
I'm calling people on the phone more than ever, which helps.

Fox News Stars Trumpeted a Malaria Drug, Until They Didn’t

Laura Ingraham called hydroxychloroquine “a game changer.” But after a month of coverage, she stopped discussing the drug on the air.

Ms. Ingraham declined to be interviewed for this article. On Wednesday, after this article was published online, she opened her Fox News program by dismissing the results of the Veterans Affairs study, calling it “shoddy,” “shockingly irresponsible” and “agenda-driven.”

“What’s driving this blind obsession to disprove the effectiveness of a drug that is being used right now, tonight, in medical centers across America?” Ms. Ingraham said, above an onscreen graphic that read “The Truth About Hydroxychloroquine.”

She added: “Is it triggered by pure hatred of Trump? Of Fox? Of me?” (Ms. Ingraham prefaced her remarks by reminding viewers: “I’m not a doctor; I don’t play one on TV.”)

Since mid-March, hydroxychloroquine has been a staple of the right-wing news media venues that Mr. Trump follows closely, including Rush Limbaugh’s radio show and Fox News prime time.

Ms. Ingraham was an early and enthusiastic advocate. On April 2, she told her viewers that “nearly all the experts that I’ve talked to, and the studies I’ve read, review this information, the evidence, and at this point, it’s come across as pretty much of a game changer.” The next day, she met with Mr. Trump in the Oval Office to personally pitch him on the drug.

cant criticize China for having state run media as long as Fox News is around

How dare these people keep harming themselves to make the president look bad! Fake news! He hosted the apprentice! He knows more than clinical trials!

It's really not. A detailed study conducted at just one wind farm in Australia in 2013-2015, albeit one of the largest ones, found that at least 1500 birds and bats were killed by its turbines every year, including a number of endangered species. There are numerous other reports identifying the same issue, although in recent years companies and governments have become smarter about the type of blades used and the locations chosen, to try and minimize bird deaths.

This is no place for a debate about the merits or otherwise of wind-sourced power generation, I just wanted to make a point that the damage inflicted on local bird populations by wind turbines is a genuine issue.

This is what I remembered and said, more birds died by glass panels than by windmills. Maybe its different for Australia but in the US and pretty much around the world this are the stats.

Newsom's been on top of things since day one. Did a good job being proactive and not letting California become a situation similar to New York, Louisiana, or Michigan. I think it's probably safe to say he's looking at some data that says it's okay to loosen up a bit and acting based on that.

I hate giving any politician in California credit, but they're in a bit of a different situation that Georgia "oh jeez I didn't even know people could be asymptomatic and spread the virus" and then trying to ram everyone into strip clubs and stick their fingers in bowling balls 19 days later.

Thats where I'm at Brad.
We need to have a controlled step by step phase in of starting back up.
What people need to realize is that it should be different. Different like going to the airport is different post Sept 11.
Safe guards, PPE and distancing need to be in place. Then roll out and measure. Turning on one switch at a time.

Cats kill between 1.4 and 3.7 BILLION birds a year in the US. That’s a far bigger threat than anything

I will say though, windmills do pose somewhat of a hazard to wildlife. Theres a debate on the cape in regards to migratory shore birds and how they may be impacted by wind turbines

anyway, back to corona for me. Just figured I’d share. Feelin weird this morning

Still maintain if my boss called today and say she`s cranking the doors open, I`ll tell her thanks but hard pass. I am not one who enjoys staying home as much as I am but not a chance I`m going back to work yet

To be fair, in this case Ingraham was the one pushing it to Trump, he bought it and run with it.

Cats are just smaller versions of the big cats. Such great little hunters...

Ironic that they won't bail out the states but will jump through hoops to bail out massive corporations that could easily do it themselves if they restructured and were fiscally responsible with their spend. But both sides now that big corporations and lobbyists are truly who all politicians serve. It's not the people.

Im also thinking of just never going back.
The key for me will be the ability to go in person to Mass Health Connector office in Worcester when it ultimately reopens.
I need to know what health insurance will cost me.

It won't be pretty, but it will still be better than getting this virus.

Hey if they’re going to start opening up that’s a good place to make a first step.

Absolutely. You have a population coming back to work that, theoretically, should be excellent at hand hygiene and using protective equipment, will be up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news, and will be monitoring themselves and others for symptoms. And I assume it's not like it's ALL elective surgeries and procedures are coming back. Karen's not going to get her butt lift any time soon. I imagine we're talking about things like knee replacements - stuff that can improve the health and quality of life, but can be put off in the time of a pandemic.

That said, they need to make damn sure they're not wasting PPE, and should offer that PPE up to other areas that don't have it first. And any worker who doesn't feel safe coming back should NOT face any kind of pressure to do so. I'm not totally gung ho about bringing back elective surgeries yet, but on the list of things that can be brought back safely, this should be one of the first, while things like sports should be one of the last.

thats what I will need to know just how ugly.
Because if I quit outright my annual income will be less than $10K a year for a couple of years.
My uneducated understanding is cost is based on income. Not assets.
Thats the rock solid clarity I need and why I want to go there in person.

Not to get too far off topic, but there was a great National Geographic article about a decade ago about how the common cat is the most lethal, efficient killing machine in nature, and it’s not even close. It was so fascinating to read about how everything they do, and every part of their body is designed for hunting.

Yep. Absolutely. But if it's something you can do, why not at this point? This virus is showing everyone that life is very fragile. Why burn years on a hamster wheel making billionaires richer, instead of spending quality time with your family? If I could walk away right now, I would. Unfortunately, I still have young ones that will be going to college in 7 and 10 years. Ugh. lol

Yeah, saw it and loved it. I'm a dog and cat person and can appreciate both.

In regards to opening up Hospitals to elective surgeries, it’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. Like it or not most hospitals in the US are for profit, and their profit overwhelmingly comes from elective surgeries. Without them, they can’t pay the doctors and nurses, who we obviously need right now.

I just turn 60, don't rush things. Take the time to enjoy life, savour every moment. You'll get there, but enjoy it while getting there. as you get older...time flies.
