Mass. reports 3,079 new coronavirus cases, a new high amid thousands of additional tests, and 178 new deaths - The Boston Globe
Governor Charlie Baker said Thursday that the latest statewide death figures from the coronavirus are “staggering,” but he also said the health care system isn’t being overrun and urged residents to continue to visit hospitals if they need treatment for other serious ailments.
Referring to the 2,182 COVID-19 deaths statewide reported as of Wednesday, Baker said at his daily media briefing that “these numbers are staggering, and we must remember the people behind these numbers.” He said families of the dead have had their worlds “shattered by this ruthless virus.”
The death toll continued to climb Thursday, with 178 new deaths reported, bringing the total to 2,360.
