Most enjoyable I can remember watching as an adult. All skill based events, not a lot of overlap. I thought it was as perfect as it could get.I actually didn’t mind this years skills competition.
Besides the horrible music and sportsnet cast ruining everything as usual the players really did a great jobI actually didn’t mind this years skills competition.
Matthews being front and centre at the draft gives me the opportunity to repost probably my favourite tweet of all time re. a previous allstar game appearance.
In the arena it was kind of painful. The crowd booed when he was announced each time, and he seemed to be saying “ Ok then I won’t try.”Wasn’t planning on watching but caught some, wasn’t bad. Glad it was more hockey skills then the circus they use to trot out there.
If Kucherov didn’t want to be there he should have given up his spot.

During an interview we did in Erie in 2015, you said it would be your dream to one day play for the Maple Leafs. You subsequently were drafted by the Oilers and have repeatedly said how much you enjoy playing in Edmonton and how great the city has treated you. But is it still special when you go back and play at Scotiabank Arena? Did you notice the energy in the rink on March 11 when you played in Toronto versus the Maple Leafs for the first time in front of a full building on a Saturday on "Hockey Night in Canada?"
"I could feel that a little bit. It's fun. It's fun to play in Toronto. You know, obviously I'm a little bit biased. I'm a Toronto kid. But I strongly consider Toronto to be kind of the Mecca of hockey. I really do. Just with all the media and the fans and, obviously, the history of the Leafs."
Having said that, who does Connor McDavid like watching on TV when he's not
practicing or playing with the Oilers?
"I like watching players obviously more than teams. So I like watching Pittsburgh for obvious reasons. And I'm probably going to get in trouble for saying this (chuckles) but I like watching the Leafs just with all the talent they have. Those are probably my top two."
He gives off the vibe of someone who never stopped loving the Leafs. The interview he did last summer when he called Toronto the mecca of hockey and said the Leafs are one of his favourite teams to watch still, knowing Oilers fans won't be happy to hear it. Then when asked about his Oilers contract - he said I love Edmonton but it's a long time and anything could happen. After the all-star skills competition today, he says how great the fans are to him and how special Scotiabank Arena was and the great memories he had watching the Leafs.

Oilers center, 2-time MVP, said he 'didn't want be a bust' in NHLwww.nhl.com
I predict the last year of his career. I don't see him moving from Edmonton any time soon.
A bit extreme but message received rielly should have been in with Matthews’s before the votes and nylander and Marner didn’t deserve to go…… don’t necessarily agree with that but I atleast understand what your trying to sayCall me a grumpy, bitter man, but I don’t like that Marner was voted in by the fans.
I don’t think he has it between the ears to recognize and appreciate what happened: the fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs voted him in because he’s a Leaf. Anywhere else in the NHL and it doesn’t happen.
Of course, I don’t think mental midget Marner will see it that way. I think he just goes into contract talks and says my price tag is high ‘cuz I’m also an All Star, not just because I’m AM’s BFF and I’m super talented.
Watching him soak up the All Star game and acting like he’s there for any other reason than the Toronto fans who put him there, while he plans to squeeze every penny out of the team, it just doesn’t sit well with me.
Yes, I’m over Marner. He never got me back after his last contract negotiation and I want to move on from him.
Of the Leafs at the All Star game, in order of deserving to be there:
1. Rielly
2. Matthews
3. Rielly
4. Rielly
5. Nylander
6. Rielly
7. Rielly
8. Rielly
9. Rielly
10. Marner

My god, Mcdavid is a f***ing beast.
He is BY FAR the most talented hockey player in history and it’s really not even close.
And some of you were arguing that Lemieux and Gretzky were more talented than him a couple of weeks ago?
Not even f***ing close!!!!
I would argue that point but I get it that is recency biasTalented? Maybe. Skilled? Not a chance.

Exactly what I was saying literally without so many words the difference between them n their peers was much more noticeableWhat that he is the most skilled? That’s pretty clear cut I’d say, but it’s hard to deny the talent of Lemieux and Gretzky when they were that far ahead of their peers to an extent McDavid can’t claim.
Exactly what this team needstalented player but cheap shot and an asshole.
This is so wrong on so many levels. I don't even know where to beginHave you seen the people that go to these things? I get a little kid wanting to see an athlete up close, but an adult?
At spring training games there are simpletons lined up begging/bothering players to sign their crap.
