If I were the Canes (which I'm not, but still, a man can dream), I would try my hand at a blockbuster and get Chychrun AND Crouse. We have enough cap space to fit both of them in without giving up any pieces on the roster. Nikishin should be on the table, too, since Chychrun is also a LD.

Is a LHD with top four capabilities really what we need to pursue? If we want to get two players from AZ, Crouse and Schmaltz or Vejmelka seem bigger needs.

Why only have 2 top pairings when you can shoot for a fringe third one too?

Chychrun would be more of a future need (Skjei/Pesce UFA in 2024), but I don't think that it would exactly hurt to have 1.5 seasons of the best defensive group the NHL has seen since the 90s era Devils.

Well I do know we are in on a pretty big trade. Had a fairly reliable source tell me as such tonight. I don't have any details at all, but from what was inferred, I don't get the feeling it's for someone really on anyone's radar but would be considered a big swing if we could pull it off.

As much as I’d love it I don’t see why calgary would sell and what would a deal even look like? They’d want Jarvis for sure

Hoping they don’t take away too much if at all from the current roster. For as much as we like to bitch and moan on a game by game basis (see GDTs) this team been cruising for a solid 3-4 months with chemistry on and off the ice I haven’t seen in a while. I’m all for a big trade this summer if they flame out in the first or second round but I’m afraid shaking the roster up right now could be detrimental to the remainder of this season.

Well, if Kane ever did choose us, we have a first that could be easily surrendered and they have the chance to look at many of our prospects up close quite easily. I still think it's unlikely, but a move for an all time great like Kane would likely be a big boost to the team.

Well kane hasn’t came out and made a decision so not sure they’d have a deal in place yet if they don’t even know if he wants to leave but it’s possible.
