I think Georgiev is our best shot
It would be if the Rangers weren't in our division. I see the Canes getting one of Crawford, Lehner, or Maelstrom.
Seems like he'd suck all the pucks in rather than keep them out.
I don’t think they go out and get a goalie, honestly, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they did. Seems much more probable that they grab a D, like Martinez, who can play next to Pesce or solidify the 3rd pairing.
On a side note, it’s really too bad that TVR has been so ineffective this year. Before his injury in the series against the Isles, he was one of the premier 3rd pairing guys in the league. Now, he’s routinely scratched and when he plays, he just hasn’t been good enough. In theory, TVR-Edmundson should be a rock solid pair, but also in theory/on paper, the Gardiner-Pesce paint should be one of the best in the league. At least they’re finally giving one of the “ideal” pairings a shot at even strength.

Yeah, as much as I want them to bring in a different goalie, I don't see it actually happening.
Martinez is kind of bad and coming off an injury.
1. While I am not quite as impatient as ChuckW, I do think the Cup is the goal for the current core. Recent history indicates that homegrown goalies win much more frequently.
2. If the Canes are in the market for a d-man, it is time to use picks/prospects to sweeten Gardiner and get Vatanen.
No one wants Gardiner. We gave him a contract no one else wanted to give, that's why he's here. They've all seen him so there's no way anyone wants him more than they did before. Gonna take one hell of a sweetener to get a better player than Jake. Best we could do today is pay so one to take him away or take someone else's problem. Maybe he gets better and that changes.
Agree, IF he gets dealt, it would happen this off-season in a dollar for dollar type deal with no sweeteners, similar to the Neal for Lucic deal. That's still unlikely to happen though in my view. Gardiner is probably a Cane at least into the start of next season. By then he's either turned it around (hopefully) or they have to suck it up and pay a team to take him.
There's a lot of evidence to show that his 1st half as an aberration and mostly the result of terrible goaltending behind him. There's a reason, IMO, why they're giving him more minutes this month, not less.
The smart move, to me, would be to sell high on Edmundson and bet that TVR rebounds from his lackluster 1st half with more minutes. One option is Dallas, as I've already mentioned, but another is Florida, who have a glut of RHD and need some balance of their pairings.
Getting rid of Gardiner at this particular time is the definition of a panic move that certain fans would conjure up because they're freaked out about +/-.
It seems to me, in the last couple of games his skating feels like its a bit better, even speedwise. I'm inclined to be in that group to let this play itself out....plus I it's always good to have a scapegoat factor.....Gardiner is not as bad as his traditional stats say, as some of his fancy stats indicate. But the eye test doesn't lie here either, he's got some definite skating issues that probably will get even worse with time. It's going to be interesting to see how both the player and the team deal with it.
It's unreal how similar all these posts about Gardiner are to posts Hamilton this time last season.
