1st set: Though not close to the top of his game, Medvedev made that set look ridiculously easy, 6-4.

2nd set: Okelpa tried hard enough, but he just looked overmatched. Sets scores are decent, 6-4, 6-3, but the end result never seemed in doubt.

I think with Roger gone, Medvedev may be my favourite player. He is fun to watch and I normally am not a fan of players that play like a wall. He also has a fun personality.

I think Genie Bouchard is a natural as an analyst if her career is over. She is good at the technical tennis talk and is also a good speaker.

Sad if true for Roger. All good things must come to an end. What a melancholy thought in this case, though.

FAA with a rather tough draw in the first round of Cincy (Fucsovic).

Night and day for Shapo in the first two sets against Paire. Awful in the first set; sublime in the second set. You would hardly know it was the same player.

3rd set: Good and bad Shapo this set. Denis exerts himself so much in an eight deuce game that he exhausts himself and coughs up the break and the match. Paire wins 7-5.

FAA goes clutch, breaking Kachanov in the final game of the third set for a comeback win, 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 win. Looks good on him. Hopefully this win will come with a huge boost in confidence.

Hurkacz beats Murray 6 and 3 in a very well played match. Andy looked good. How good? Like he could be a formidable roadblock in the early rounds of the US Open--that's a big improvement over his play in England.

Osaka beats Gauff in three sets in a marquee match-up that didn't live up to its expectations. After a mediocre first set win, Gauff got steamrolled the rest of the way. In the final set, Naomi only lost one point on serve. So good to see her back.

Felix faces Berrettini in the night cap tonight.

Berrettini has beaten Felix both times they've played, both meetings have been on grass.

Hopefully Felix can keep up his play.

Felix the Clutch once again, winning 4 and 3 over Berrettini who to be honest had a rough night. FAA broke early in the second set and to my delight served it out without much drama whatsoever. Another huge confidence builder, I'm certain. Just what the doctor ordered.

Nice win for Felix and takes him back up to #15 in the live rankings (his career high).

But Berrettini was quite bad.

Tsitsipas next.

Felix won the first two meetings between them but Stefanos has won the last 4.

They are the first match of the night session.

Medvedev is a serious threat to Nole, He just disemboweled PCB 1 and 1 with the loss of only six service points, Definitely his time of year--if he is smart he will lose the semi in Cincy. Start fresh and hungry in New York.
