I've got Columbia beating Brazil and France beating Germany today

I certainly hope I'm wrong about France, I ****ing hate them

My friend is bullying me (ie bribing me with beer) into cheering for Colombia today. I don't really care either way (note the avatar).

Would like to see Germany lose, just because.

Are you a generally patriotic guy in individual sports? ie do you just cheer for the canadian by default? (note I don't really know your nationality). I cheer for the canadian competitor, therefore I've never been more interested in tennis with the likes of Bouchard and Raonic climbing the latter towards stardom.

It's like when Villeneuve was racing in F1. Now I don't really pay much attention to it. Same as Mike Weir and golf.

If you're not that kind of guy, I understand, but Bouchard has a chance to make Canadian history tomorrow, at Wimbledon of all places.

Tried to get into F1 when Villeneuve was making waves there, but holy hell is it ever boring. You'd think those open-wheeled cars (and why design them like that to begin with) would be crashing all over the place...especially in those nasty street courses. There were barely any lead changes. That era with Schumacher was awful...that guy was way too dominant for his own good.

I want Germany to win, and have to cheer for Brazil today or I'm in the doghouse.
Tomorrow I'm pulling for Costa Rica (go CONCACAF!) and Belgium (or I'm even more in the doghouse)

Edit: or do you just like the Men's side (faster, more sets) more than the Women's?

Not really not patriotic at all. I mean I'll cheer for Canada in Hockey but I don't get nervous as with the Senators. I was born in Belgium and really going for them in the World Cup though but that's mostly because they haven't been in it since 2002.

I paid attention to Villeneuve in F1 because my dad was a huge fan and one of my best buds in 1997 was a German who obviously was a big Schumacher fan so we had a bit of a rivalry going, thankfully Villeneuve won that year after Schumacher tried to push him off course (muahahaha!).

I'm puzzled as to why I can't muster any enthusiasm for Eugenie: I mean I love Tennis (women and men) but the whole brouhaha over it I find a bit over-the-top. It's nice and I will be cheering her on but I don't really care you know?

I still can't figure out what warrants a yellow card and what doesn't after watching most games this tournament...

Columbia got screwed by the ref and linesmen. So pissed off.

No Silva for Germany game though.

Netherlands vs Germany final, baby.

I really don't see Holland beating Argentina or Belgium. It's maybe a bit of a toss up of Argentina/Holland with both having little talent on the back line but Belgium matches REALLY well with both teams, so I won't be surprised if they make the finals.

Silva is such a massive loss for Brazil. I give Germany the edge in that match.

Really? Holland is the strongest team in the tourney, imo.

Robben will slice through Belgium and Argentina's defenses like water. Snjeider is just waking up and if both are shut-down good luck trying to stop Van-Persie or even Memphis as the sub. Lens has been underwhelming too but Holland's firepower is lethal.

They also have stable defense and great mid-fielders.

No Silva, just gold.

Lol, no Neymar too, maybe.

Well... Robben does look like he's at home in a pool...
Sucks that Neymar's going to be out against Germany though, I didn't think that it looked that bad when it happened.

I'm hoping Belgium knocks off Argentina though.

FIFA really, really needs to get some kind of protocols in for how to deal with injuries. Earlier this tournament, a player was knocked out, probably had a concussion. After he quickly came to, HE WAS THE ONE that decided he was staying on the field. The physio's did nothing, the coach did nothing.

Did you see the way they took Neymar off the field yesterday? They had no idea what they were doing, just rolled him on to a stretcher. Where was the support for his back? A board? Strapped in to a stretcher? It was a major case of "let's just get him off the field as quick as possible." And lol at those stretcher's that they use. Neymar should take the doctors from his own team to court and sue for incompetence.

Except Belgium actually have a competent back line. Kompany can deal with him as he did in champions league when Robben had a hell of a lot more support with Bayern.

Snjeider is a non Factor. He's close to the end.

Van Persie was easily shut down in the last game, they'd be smart to start Huntalaar and have RVP coming off the bench.

I'd be much more worried about Hazzard and Lukaku if I were the Dutch. They shouldn't have beaten Mexico and were exposed for that first half. If FIFA didn't make it impossible for African and North American team, the Dutch would be done.

All the power house teams were more exposed than Netherlands were against Mexico. That's a far-fetched statement. Swiss outplayed Argentina, Algeria could have definitely beat the Germans. The Mexicans had a shot but didn't put on a display against the Dutch like the other underdogs did against other favorites. When Netherlands turned it on, it was no match for Mexico. Snjeider was the mastermind behind multiple great assists against Spainish and other games and scored beauty against Mexico. He's no where near done.

I guess we'll never know how Belgium will do against Robben now.

Noooooo

Belgium

My buddy said it best, Argentina is the most dangerous bad team in the tournament

Well at least it won't be Belgium vs Netherlands, that would have sucked because they are my two teams in International Football

Hup Holland!!
