Regulation ended UNLV 6 DENVER 6 ..do not know if they lkay an OT or shoot-out..it is only an exhibition game..
Probably just ends inactive.

Still embarrassing for Denver.

Obviously faikedctp show up first 40 minutes...left it to last 20minutes to make a game of it...or the INLV goalie finally cracked fter facing a barrage over first 40minutes..
The Denver stating goaliecwas pulled over half -way in the game and thec back-up put in.

I turned on the game in early 3rd period with Denver down 1-5. Denver scored 3 straight with Thompson getting a goal with a one-timer from the dot. Then UNLV went up 4-6 before Denver tied it with Thompson getting his 2nd goal of the period. No scoring in OT although Denver had a bunch of chances including Thompson narrowly missing his hattrick. Thompson didn't get a shot in the shootout and UNLV won the shootout 1-0.

Oh the embarrassment..of Denver losing to a club team from UNLV...not evenNCAa level players..Theycare the tip level of club teams in the ACHA ..but the students for ACHA club teams Vdo not get athletic scholarships like NCAA hockey teams get from their universities and colleges..

Greene is a perplexing prospect . Good at faceoffs , pretty good skater , I cant think of any comparables through the years he reminds me of. Anybody have someone ?

Idk about a comparable but Greene is just too vanilla for me at the moment. I really liked the pick at the time, thought he had a really good freshman year but he's just stagnated it seems. I was hoping he'd take over games more in the NCAA this year and take another step in terms of his production and offense creation. Doesn't seem like that's happened.

Are you saying that based on anything besides his numbers? Like have you watched him at all? I'll admit that I haven't seen a minute of him this year and yes, his numbers don't look great. So I think we can probably close the book on him being a top 6 center because any scoring center that came out of college produced more at his age. But that doesn't mean he could be a valuable piece of the future.

I know it's frustrating because the glaring weakness in the system is scoring. But Kantserov looks to be something and maybe Boisvert, Lardis, or one of the 3rd round lottery tickets turns into something too. And hopefully we can get someone who can score at the top of the draft this year.

Nothing besides the numbers. I don't catch many NCAA games. My assumption coming into the year would be that Greene's production would take a noticeable step forward as one of the most senior players on the team, in his Junior season. Instead, looks like another ho-hum year of just under a PpG for him.

I still think Hawks do not have their future 1C ...maybe theirx 2C if Boisvert keeps developing..but still thatvis thin chances for forvthe vital top 2 Center positions that many Cup contender teams build their forward corpsxaround..

Befard is flawedxas a 2C...faceoffs a huge issue...size and strength anotgercissue and better defensive coverage a nothervissuexsuch that it is doubtful he can be the type of Center we need for either a #1C or #2C...If he gets an effective C to pkay with who also does well enough on draws and is God in defensive coverage but who can either score with his shot or pkay-make to set up Bedard for hisxsjor THEN Bedard can blooms a differenxe-maker wibger..BUT givenvtge flaws with Bedard ,I doubt he can be a star at Cebter.

So we need that 1C...gottaxdraft thise because no teN gives up a #1c and not many star 2Cs Lso available as UFA's unless they are old and past it.

So we have to draft a star 1C who can score hinself or pkay-makevor do both and be above watervi draws and fefend/cover like 1Cs need to do such thatvintotal the bet effects when hebis on are POSITIVE.

As forx2C...this cannot be just a checker..Maybe Boisvertcwith his pro shot can be such..Maybe Greene becomes a better oro than he plays in colkege ...if not hevisvi the nix woth Moore Misiak and Pharand forxa future bottom 2 lineC..

If Hawjscdraft eother Misa or Denoyers there are maybe a 1C and2C ...but both are at least 2C

So if Boivert is also at keastxax2C we can probably get at least 2 legit 2Cs of the future and still impact on both thetop 2 lines as left Cebter types.

Clearly adding more top 1C or 2C candidates woth size plus the attributes you need at C is going to be crucial for any rose from the bottom.

However Hawks need to also add that star #1D ...Not sure either Levshunov or Rinzel get to that level..but they should provide a future RD depth to the D which is of the level of two #2dmen additions..

With Vlasic on the LD side that would be 3 #2D level Dmen leaving that elusive #1Star game controlling #1D difference-maker with NHKalk-star potebtial...if finding a 1Cis rare unless you get lotto lucky, finding a #1D with difference-making gane controlling all-star potential is even more rare..

So this is why IF Hawks finish last and stay last after lotto...or move up from 2nd last or 3rd last to#1after lotto,we need to grab Mathew Schaefer as the #1overall despite our desperate need for a 1C and a 2C solution for
the future.
Schaefer is definitely #1D material.

But anyone we draft is at minimum 2 seasons away after their draft from holding an NHL spot on the Hawks.

Maybe Hawks can get an over 30 2C from, ufa
..if not We need to draft a 1C solution in 2026 if we have drafted Schaefer this 2025 draft for the#1D solution.

What to so with Mr.Negative Seth Jones?

I still want to move him to forward...removing the complexities of playing As a big minutes dman shoukd help Jones if not score kits himself at forward ...at leastvuse his size and straight line soedd once he gets going to both cardy pucks into the o-zoneand to create space for linemates to get chances of the rebounds or chaos in thecskit tgat should ensue hom taking pucks to the net ina piwr forward role.
You see flashes of this when Jones gets active t
attacking in the o-zone...the problem is he is spending to much time attempting to defend (horribly) in the d-zone ...I want iom freed up to just worry about attacking with size speed *straight line( and pisr..his shot is terrible, abut a power forward that can use size speed strength to get pucks crashing the slot and crease is going to create problems for the opps ...chaos and loose pucks will result and hopefully Hawks other forwards or dmen can the advantager of that slot chaos in front of the net or higher in the slot...You let Seth cut down on so many responsibilities as a dman..the gaps the reads the awareness.. he has little cover anticipation so reaction tine processing is slow and it overwhelms hom ..free him up to do a few simple things as a power rishing entry and take it to the net winger andI bet he blossoms in such a role...his currant d-man role he performs like sh*t so I do not see ANY disadvantage moving hom to RW...
His mind will concentrate on less..his athleticism Nd enthusiasm will come to the fore...put it ybis wY..his negative impact cannot be any worse,so what have we got to lose?
He will becone more energetic playing shorter shifts and less minutes, less tiring than constantly trying to defend long puck control by the opps in our d-zone ... more enthusiastic as he ubderstans he can positively make a difference as a forward.

I just do not see any negatives from removing him out of the D-corps...We saw the yuteszalk take strides during his absence ..Tgey pkayex better knowing the team needed them to without Jones...he cones back and they went into let the big bucks guy do it,whike they defer to lesser roles again..tgey communicated better..now it seems they went back to more individual each on their own style of play...the result is a lot of confusion and missed coverage or less compete level...let Seth do it ...but he FAUKS ..sobtge entire D is playing worse.

Remove him from the D ...move him to wing ..
Try him with Nazar or Reichel ..

This is my suggestion of solving the albatross problem with Seth.
I would rather get $4.5million of value from hom than the 95cents we are getting from himas a big minutes dman.

As long as Seth Jones remains as our#1D but who plays like a level of a 7th d bench warmer ,we are doomed to be a bottom-feeder the rest of his contact.

He never passes the eye test...justctoo many goals go into our net per 60 and since heviscon so much, too many goals jump into our when Seth is on...

Make him a forward Nd tge bad larma he brings gs will go away..but whikexI see the merits of such a move, tge Hawks coaches and KD seem unable to see or understand tge benefits of doing this..itvisxa mentality of we pay this guy $9.5 per ..he should get the role we pay him for ..bi minutes #1D ..except he keeps failing at it..but the Hawks keep putting the square peg into the round hole and it just never fits .

Change d-partners...no matter he still Fails too often..

Get hom off the D ...try homat forward ..It cannot get any worse.

I don’t see him becoming an NHL player. Vanilla is a good way to put it

All I know is that Lev better be a stud cause this guy is doing this in a men’s league. Not like Nesterov is a massive bum either

I trust the present management team to make the proper draft decisions less than I trusted Bowman’s. They can’t say with a straight face that they practice BPA.

Regardless of who ends up better, we all know defenseman take longer to develop.
And a right dman is a premium commodity. I get the thinking of Davidson et al. It’s easier and cheaper to acquire a top three winger than a 1/2 RD. We just have to hope that it shakes out in our favor.

I want them to develop a complete team. High scoring forwards are exciting as hell to watch, but the Hawks Cup winning teams never had a Ross, Hart, or Rocket Richard winner. They did however have a Selke and Norris winners.

And in regards to BPA, is it BPA at the time of the draft or BPA over the course of a career?

Neither. It should be BPA based upon projections.

And that’s how rankings are made. Demidov was ahead Lev on about every list. Either we have the greatest scouts in the league, or scouts that have smartest-guy-in-the-room syndrome. Time will tell, but if I had to bet I would bet on the almost consensus every time.

Scouts get it wrong all the time. Even the consensus. Nolan Patrick was ahead of Cale Makar on every list.

What are you going to do?
