On flip side both Hayes and Ludwinski have had terrible starts to pro careers

Good news is they are both only 20 years old but the jump from OHL to AHL has proven difficult for them

Yes that's true I should've included them and Misiak who are showing less than expected.

Let's see how things develop, I'm still liking the ratio of positive to negative very much.

I've never got the love for Gavin Hayes, don't see NHL quality there at all.
It was that he produced. Most of us don't have the luxury of watching these guys and all we have is checking numbers on Hockeydb.com. If a guy is scoring, that means he's got a ton of potential despite any flaws in his game that don't show up in the box score.

It's always good to see a prospect putting up numbers but that doesn't mean he's going to be an NHL player. Now despite it being common for players to produce in the OHL and not be much of a pro, it's way less common for a prospect to underproduce in juniors or college and then turn into a good pro. So if a forward prospect is not scoring, his chances of making it are bleak.

Musto moves the overton window around here more than people care to admit and more than he should.
My problem with the whole Boisvert thing is trading up 2 spots when they probably didn't have to. He's a good prospect and I like him over Moore, actually.

My guess is they were hoping Jett or NBM made it to 18. but it did not go that way. 17-21 were probably the next tier of prospect. Boisvert eiserman, hage, connelly parascak. I heard they were high on Jett from somebody.

In my viewings of Rockford, I actually have been pretty impressed with Hayes. His skating seems to have improved, and I was surprised to see a bit of jam to his game. He is playing down in the lineup, and hasn't produced a ton so far, but I would not write him off yet.

It would have to improve even more if he wants a regular role in the NHL. I could see him as a grinder at most in the NHL on a crap team, but not much more than that.

Hayes got some good 4th line tools to his game. We know he could score a lot at junior level as he was 8th in GPG/14th in PPG in the OHL last year but doesn't have a crazy high ceiling. I know everyone wants to be the first to call "bust/bad pick/I never thought he was good" but he's got 2 years left on his ELC after this to try and prove he's got an NHL future, so just keep an eye on him for now.
