He looks like just a guy. Still early though.
I could potentially see him as a regular third pairing, but this isn’t the first time I’ve seen him penciled in as a projected top-4, and I was wondering if there’s something I’m missing.

I also don't see the top 4 upside in Kaiser.

I think he tops out as a bottom pairing guy who does a lot ok, but doesn't do anything good-to-great beyond skating.

It sucks that none of Korchinski, Allan, Kaiser, Del Mastro, or Phillips are right handed. If neither Levshunov or Rinzel are ready for next season and Murphy gets traded, there will be a serious dearth of RHD going into next season.

I do remember that Brian Campbell was left handed and played on the right side because it suited his game better so I'd be curious to Korchinski on the right as he has a similar profile. And it looks like Rockford is trying him on the right so it'll be something to follow.

A couple of non-fancy 5x5 stats for Kaiser for Dmen(Not including Phillips due to games played):

Penalties drawn/60 minutes= .63 - 1st amongst Hawks Dmen
Minor penalties/60= .84 - 3rd
Takeaways/60= 2.32- 1st
Hits/60= 5.49 - 1st
Blocked shots/60= 7.39- 2nd(Only behind A Martinez)

And his main issue which is problematic with the "eye test"
Giveaways/60= 4.86- worst performer on the team for Dmen

His fancy stats which many of you will dismiss are pretty decent. His PK numbers are solid. For a 22 year old dman that was drafted in the 3rd round, he's over performing in his own end.

The giveaways though can be a huge issue. I imagine he'll get better but one of the reasons why the Blackhawks cannot score is that they rarely have the puck. That can be attributed to them sucking at faceoffs but I also see way too many defensemen give up the puck coming out of their zone into center ice.

I think other teams are having their forwards put extra pressure on the Hawks' D because many of them are prone to just sending the puck forward and giving up possession.

Am I the only one who’s not crazy high on Kaiser?

If Kaiser can start moving the puck effectively, he has a chance to be a really effective NHL D. Skates very well, plays with some bite, isn't afraid out there. To me, the thing that holds him back is his puck-moving.

Campbell always played LD.
