I was speaking to one of the ASU coaches this week and they wanted to play against Adam Cajan tonight but he mysteriously hurt his ankle in practice Either way UND looks good tonight in Tempe so I'm surprised this dude has a 3.50 and .882 with a 5-7 record on this squad.

Not sure if he is an NHL talent but maybe I'm off....either way good win for ASU.

I wouldn't mind Moore and Rinzel spending one more year in College with all the players coming next year . Kantserov has one more year left on his contract as well? Greene , Thompson , James , Pharand , Lardis , Harding and possibly Safonov signing . I forgot Misiak !!

No and no. Altough there's plenty of hockey to be played this season, at this point Rinzel and Moore seem to be ready for AHL next year. Also, why hold them back if they are ahead in their development then most of the players you listed?

As in the last game, Kantserov was awarded a penalty shot for the chance to complete his hat-trick. He didn't convert this time.

2-2 after two periods.

EDIT - Kantserov wasn't the player who was hooked (soft call), but the coach chose him to take it.

I think there is plenty of room in the AHL for all of them but I always question if guys want to give up the college life to ride the bus between Rockford and Des Moines. Nazar and Levshunov did but Greene wanted to stay another year.

Regarding Harding, sure I'd like to see him sign but I don't think he will. Davidson didn't draft him and there is a logjam of young LHD ahead of him already. All he has to do is wait until August of 2025 and he can sign anywhere he wants.

One thing about having multiple picks in the first and second rounds is it allows you to take big swings. Kantserov and Rinzel are looking mighty good even if Gajan and Misiak aren't. I have no problem giving Moore, Rinzel, Green, Thompson, and James all a few games with the big club at the end of the year like we did with Nazar and Vlasic before sending them down to the minors the next year to marinate.

Damn is he on a heater. Really promising development from him so far, I'm excited.

You don't want to rush kids but you also don't need them playing at lower levels when they're capable of playing at a higher one. Unless something catastrophic happens, there's no reason for Rinzel or Moore to not turn pro. They're going to be ahead of most of the players you listed on any depth chart and the Icehogs are certainly going to have some graduates from the current roster in Nazar and likely Dach and Slaggert too. On the backend, at least one of Korchinski/Levshunov will be in the NHL next year I'd imagine.

After posting just a couple hours ago, I watched some of the Minnesota Michigan game from last night. My thoughts on Rinzel and Moore are not too different than what has already been said on here a bunch of times.

Rinzel has a ideal size, skating, and offensive talent in a defenseman. But there's something about him that scares the sh*t out of me when he's out there. He still turns the puck over in sensitive areas, takes too many risks, makes bad passes, and needs to add more weight. But he's probably 2 years away from the NHL and I would prefer both of those to be with Rockford but we'll see what unfolds. I still see a top pairing defensemen if he figures it all out.

Moore is such a great skater that he's breathtaking on the ice and you cannot question his motor. I'm not an expert on finishing or hockey sense but I can see why others feel that there is more to be desired there. I hear comparisons to Andrew Cogliano and that might be what Moore becomes but damn I want to see him in the pros and what that looks like.

Rinzel has always kind of reminded me of Tyler Myers

For more comparisons, here's Kantserov vs his teammate (and 2022 Minny 1st rounder) Yurov so far this season:

RK: 5g7a, 12pts in 14 games
DY: 7g7a, 14pts in 26 games

Yurov is 9 months older, a former 1st rounder, and has a much worse PPG on the same team right now. Yurov absolutely had the better regular season last year, but Kantserov had him beat for points in last year's playoffs.

Hell, Roman has a better PPG this season than anyone else on his team. The top forward on that roster only has 20pts in 35 games so far.
Update:

RK: 7g7a, 14pts in 15 games
DY: 7g7a, 14pts in 27 games

Kantserov has already tied Yurov's point totals so far this season (again, on the same roster), despite missing a dozen games and having to come back from injury.

I can't help but feeling that a young 20 year old producing like this in the KHL has to translate to the NHL.

Pretty similar numbers to Kaprizov honestly.
Maybe that's what Lazerus was getting at in 2026? :) I also like the idea of having another Russian on the roster for him to bond with and help with the adjustment and I don't think Mikheyev will be here. European soccer teams do it all the time when they bring in someone from Brazil as they always try to have another Brazilian on the roster for purposes of comfort. Maybe Levshunov from Belarus counts or they bring over Safonov?

Or maybe....just maybe they figure out how to get Kaprizov here in 26. That would be pretty cool
