All-Purpose News Thread Part III

Post merger life at a public company. The company is doing its best to suck every dollar it can from the live audience while pinching pennies with employees. Corporations are the worst.

Apparently a Saudi PLE is worth 55 million dollars. There's only one this year and that's how much it impacts WWE finances. There's 3 next year, the Rumble being one of them. Probably one in the Spring, one in the Fall.

What weirdly complicated man that old fart could be at times. Gives financial support or provides security to some workers while shits on others, literally.

WWE launches WCW Vault channel on Youtube:

I know that they have gotten rid of a couple these guys by choice but is it just me or does it feel like AEW losing A LOT of talent since WM 38?

Cody
Punk
Black
Miro
Starks
Lucha Brothers.
Eathan Page
Jade Cargill

It feels like they are bleeding talent.

Wish they put the WCW stuff on Netflix so it could all be in one place.

But assuming Netflix ever gets around to uploading the rest of the old Raw's we are eventually going to be able to rewatch the Monday night war from start to finish.

I mean yes and no. It was inevitable now that AEW is what 7 years old now? (7 years already? Damn). There will be a lot of back and forth. Some of it is Khan, some of it is the wrestlers just want a change of scenery. Also in that time since Cody left they've gotten Ricochet, Edge, Lashley and Benjamin from WWE and White, Okada and Ospreay from NJPW.

Cody's white meat Late 00s John Cena act wasn't gonna work in AEW, they were already booing him, and he refused to turn heel. I wish we knew more about why he left but it seems it's cause that's exactly what he wanted to be and that works better in WWE.

Punk thing was in a league of its own. Punk is a dick but Khan botched that horribly.

Luchas and Starks, interested to hear their stories when they come out. I'm not sure if Khan pissed the Luchas off before or after they made it known they wanted to leave.
I like Starks, but I think he always had one foot out the door to follow his buddy Cody, which is why his push ended.

Miro was his own worst enemy, with injuries and shooting down creative ideas. And has barely been on TV.

Black and Page are the classic mid-card type guys who will flip back and forth, like previously mentioned. Same goes for Andrade and Spears. And in the case of Black and Andrade, their wives are in WWE, and were only in AEW originally because WWE released them.

Cargill, like Cody, is more made for WWE. She's all look, and still very green in the ring. Her style wasn't gonna work long term in AEW. And it's not like she wasn't booked strong there. I think she was another 'Friend of Cody' too. (So is Spears)

The problem with AEW right now, is Khan being too much of a mark, and living in the past with guys like Edge and Jericho getting too much air time. The Hurt Business has been good, but they're also old. When guys like Starks are getting passed over for dudes in their 50s, maybe that's why their leaving.

At least their starting to build guys like Takeshita and Fletcher, even Garcia can be a solid upper mid carder.

They did Ricochet, Lashley, Edge and Benjamin.but when you look at the list you wrote, and you look at the list I wrote Who got the better end of that deal?

I'd argue WWE.

I LOVE edge, I think Edge should be in WWE that's where he belongs.

Edge is 50, Lashley is about 50

Jade is 32
Cody39
Page 35
Starks 34
Punk 45
Lucha Brothers 34 and 40.

Even WWE's old guy is 5 years younger then Lashley and Edge.

IWWE's list has way more left in the Tank

I would agree, they're younger, but I also agree with BPP...they either weren't interesting or weren't gonna get further...

Page is already falling down the NXT list, so many matches with Evans that neither is growing anymore

Starks, we'll see, I personally didn't care for him based on the stupid pose and as others mention, Rock like act...but he has the most potential

Jade is green

Lucha brother will be interesting as long as they don't get tied to LWO or an act like that

On AEW side, Hurt Syndicate is the same act, but feels fresh, for now...it'll wear out eventually

Edge will just always be over so his push will feel validated

Ricochet is the interesting one...wwe never let him really put on a match that suited him, aew will...he will be over with that fan base, plus he is allowed to just be what he wants in a character...

I think both sides got/ are getting what they want

It just continues to be asked, how can aew grow ratings...the shows are good/great lately but not resonating with casuals...

This is true, but you also can't ignore the guys they got from Japan in Okada, White and Ospreay. Okada is 37 and White and Ospreay are 32 and 31 respectively. All 3 almost went to WWE as well.

Okada has been misused if you ask me. IDK what happened to the rest of his faction. The Bucks are basically part timers now and Perry just disappeared.

Can they even afford to pay Lex Luger to go to the Hall of Fame Ceremony?

Cody left because he accomplished his goal in AEW, which was prove to Vince he could be the corporate guy. He took himself out of ever winning the AEW world title because it’s not what he wanted and never was.

When the book is written on his career, there will never be enough said about how he spent his time away from WWE moving the pieces around to set the chessboard up completely in his favor. The only people mad about that are those who thought they were thick as thrives in trying to compete with WWE.

I can't see how Bobby Lash in tag team is the best use of him and likely big contract they gave. AEW needs matches like Lashley vs Joe on the PPV.
