Good for Naomi. Got roped into Sasha's bullshit and tried to stick with her out of loyalty. Now Sasha's priced herself out of WWE and Naomi's on the way back to a well paying job.

She was rumored to be going back to WWE before she signed with Impact, and I believe she was actually a free agent.

I’ve seen posts citing Dave’s speculation, but not corroborated that the deal for Mercedes in AEW is $25m over 5 years. Though it would be strange to have numbers out there like that.

Same opinion as most, here. Never saw the allure of Sasha Banks. "The Boss" was the best thing to happen to her bank account and was the only thing that stood out. That's it...a nickname. No idea what her character even was. Also can't wrestle for shit.

She's an alright wrestler but she's been surpassed by numerous women in WWE. Her character was a less vanilla version of Bianca (To be fair, Sasha came first, so I guess Bianca is a vanilla version of Sasha) but the problem for her is Bianca is a much better wrestler, better overall athlete, probably more marketable, and easier to work with.

End of the day, she's not worth big money in WWE because she's a fringe Top 5 women's wrestler there. (In a year or two, barring disastrous development for Stratton and Jade, she wont even be fringe) She'd be the top draw for AEW's women's roster... Problem is that's also because AEW's women's division is awful.

... Even if AEW's women's roster was good and she had a solid group to work with, $5M/year for her is absurd.

To be honest, her biggest "star power" is with Twitter weirdos. She has an army of stans attacking anyone who dares criticize her. I guess that is what gives her the false impression that she is worth way more than she actually is.

At some point when AEW signed Punk, I recall Dave claiming that Punk was signed for $1M/year more than Moxley, and that Moxley had a Favored Nations clause that pushed him to equal money.

Problem is, I can't recall if Dave said Punk signed for $5M/year, or Moxley had $5M/year and Punk's contract pushed him to $6M/year.

Nonetheless, that tells you roughly where she'd be in their pay structure. She'd be top 3 in pay. (Sub Punk out for MJF, if he did indeed sign a new deal)

... She's not worth Top 3 money. Not even close.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Her athletic look. As I said, she looked athletically better during her NXT years than in in recent years. Like I said, she was beginning to look alarmingly skinny and I sincerely hope there were't any other health issues with her that caused this.

However there's a big history of this. If it's not about Tiffany Stratton "losing abs" during her time off or saying "if Bayley had abs like Finn she'd be pushed more" or Zoey Starks "physique" or Sol Ruca's "muscles" or Sasha needing to get "muscles because she's alarmingly skinny" - I don't know. Look matters in the entertainment industry and adds to perceived legitimacy in sports. Again, if it were "Her ass ain't that great anymore", I could see it.

But back to Jade, there's another reason I just don't see it with Sasha. WWE's assembled (And is still in the process of assembling) a pretty solid roster of larger, super athletic women. Rhea's big and athletic. Bianca's big and athletic. Charlotte's big and athletic. (Albeit miscast as a face) Raquel's big and athletic. (Long way to go as a character, though...) Tiffany's big and athletic. Jade's big and athletic.

Sure you've had smaller men that have gotten over on top, but they've either gotta be an incredible worker or an incredible personality. (Usually both) Sasha's work doesn't stand out above WWE's top women. Her personality stands out, but honestly, if they can train up Jade, are they all that different? And Jade trumps Sasha as a physical freak, as you noted.

I guess my overall point is, Sasha was on top when the top was Charlotte/Becky/Sasha/Bayley/Alexa. A lot has changed even in the last couple years. She's not at all a standout physically anymore. Her work isn't a standout anymore. Her personality is, but may essentially be a duplicate of Jade and an edgier twist on Bianca. And it's OK to have more than one of the same thing, but not at an enormous cost.
