All-Purpose News Thread Part II

AEW is running United Center on Saturday, June 17. So…you all know what’s happening then.
Your comment doesn't seem to be a direct reply to a message above where sarcasm about the 17th would make sense and I couldn't find anything in a search about....nevermind. I'll still leave this post in case anyone else is confused. Today Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated that day could be the debut of the new Satuday series, that the United Center was booked and someone who hasn't been on TV since September may return that evening.

This found its way to my timeline...

Ted DiBiase Jr. officially charged in welfare scam.

from cbssports.com:

Former WWE wrestler Ted DiBiase Jr. has been charged for his involvement in the largest corruption case in the history of Mississippi. The entire welfare scandal is about the misappropriation of roughly $77 million intended for low-income families in the poorest state in the nation.

Court documents show that DiBiase, along with co-conspirators John Davis, Christi Webb, Nancy New and others, obtained federal funds from The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program and misappropriated the money for their own personal use.

After federal funds were issued, Davis -- the former executive director of the Mississippi Department of Human Services -- would direct MDHS to sub-grant the funds to the Family Resource Center of North Mississippi Inc. (FRC) and Mississippi Community Education Center (MCEC), which were two nonprofit organizations operated by Webb and New, respectively.

Davis would then allegedly direct Webb and New to give money to individuals and companies through sham contracts. According to the Department of Justice, at least five of those contracts were for DiBiase's companies, Priceless Ventures LLC and Familiae Orientem LLC. DiBiase's companies were given millions of dollars in federal funds for social services that he "did not provide and did not intend to provide."

DiBiase allegedly used the money to buy a vehicle and a boat, as well as for the down payment on the purchase of a house, among other expenditures.

Looks like the senior is alleged as well, supposed to repay $722k

Ric Flair interview on JRE is good minus all the interrupting of Tony Hichcliffe. I understand that Joe feels a fish out of water interviewing wrestlers because of his own lack of knowledge about it but, for the love of God, if Tony wants to mark out or ask questions just let him hang behind the scenes and have him prepare questions. Tony is always terrible not to mention how much stuff he is wrong about. I would love see an editors cut of the Jake Roberts and Ric Flair episodes with Hinchcliffe edited out.

Mercedes is solid for sure, but yeah, I think she's completely full of shit. I'd take a few people over her, honestly.

Maybe I have a 20th century professional wrestling mentality, but a wrestler claiming they are the best ever seems perfectly normal. lol

Have you ever seen her pre-WWE pictures. She was really fit but I guess she only recently gained the weight.

But that is a crazy transformation since I last saw her at the Royal Rumble.

Considering Vince once pitched an incest angle between Shane/Steph and later himself/Steph, I'm not surprised that some crazy shit is proposed in there.

What's sad is it's not even remotely shocking if you have watched wrestling over the past 30 years. I'm more shocked that other wrestling fans are somehow surprised by this?

Endeavor would be justified to completely clean house, but considering the UFC side is not much better, it isn't going to happen.

Also what a f***ing baby the head writer was after his beyond awful Mansoor 9/11 idea got rejected.

IDK how they win that lawsuit, it is a scripted TV show after all. They'll have to go with like unsafe work environment or harassment or something along those lines because I don't think pitching ideas can be considered discrimination.

Also does any of this really surprise you, given the stuff that did make TV over the years? We know their had to be even crazier/worse ones that didn't.
