All-Purpose News Thread Part II

The press conference one was more of a toss thru a card table than a DDT, maybe they just picked a bad location
For sure. Even the set up for it is brutal... Like it serves absolutely zero purpose. Sometimes less is more.

It's the same thing as those cartwheel corner spots all the shitty divas used to do. Just go smack them in the head, you don't need to do 4 cartwheels first.

Ah yes. The perfect and total embodiment of charisma, gable steveson. We all knew this was a joke from the moment it was announced.

the elite
I do not think Tony is dumb enough to pay Punk millions to stay away when he could positively impact his bottom line.

Punk returning and fighting against the Elite is a ready-made storyline that only a dumbass could mess up.

I expect all parties to see that, recognize that and want to profit of that. They do not have to be friends, they do not have to like eachother, but they can do great business together if they want to.

Unfortunately, I think Punk, while he might want to try, is too petty to make it work and the Elite are insecure dweebs who seem content to do their own thing and mostly care about their own vision of wrestling, not profitability. So, yeah.

i really don't see how Punk is the problem here. guy hasn't been in AEW for several months and that lockerroom is still a complete mess and they're still talking shit to Meltzer who's now embarrassed by all this.

the story is there and there's money to be made but one side isn't interested in that; they just wanna do spots with their friends and keep milking the golden teat. we saw FTR go on a historic run in a company that couldn't care less for them

She's such a mark for herself. I get it, definitely doesn't hurt to bet on yourself... but Christ Almighty, that was f***ing awful.

I mean end of the day the fight in the back is so small in the grand scheme of shit that has happened in the locker room in the wrestling world. If that was all that happened this wouldn't even be a discussion. If Punk really does want to come back he has to own up to the bullshit in that press conference full stop. What did he say the apology has to be as loud and public as the disrespect? He buried the entire company in that press conference. That is the actual hurdle to him coming back. Not the Elite.

I agree about him having to apologize for burying the company.

It is more when then if he comes back at this point I think. Supposedly both the Bucks and Omega are fine working with him again. Obviously he will need to do some smoothing over inside the locker room....and not be an absolute dick bag but lots of money to make.

If they have to do a soft brand split (with the new Saturday show) to keep the Punk and Elite separate from each other, that's a whole other level of backstage heat. Let's just hope cooler heads prevail, but a part of me wouldn't really blame the Elite either if that press conference is keeping them from ever working with Punk.

What a bunch of nonsense.

What Saturday show? Was there something announced?
