Growing up late 80s early 90s , I likedSeems like these guys only hit the scene recently, any good recommendations?
Lots of great candidates for best Canadian band/singer-songwriter of all time.
Beyond the usual notables like Cohen, Downie, Joni Mitchell, etc... my more obscure top 5 shortlist:
John K Samson
Leslie Feist
About half of Broken Social Scene
Diana Krall
Mac DeMarco
I swear it felt like 54-40 was at playing every fair, super eX or tulip festival that came through the Ottawa back in the 90s, I can't count how many times I saw them play, lol.Growing up late 80s early 90s , I liked
Grapes of Wrath
Northern Pikes

Always enjoy the Trews, Sheepdogs, that is more my jam today
Yeah, twas them, haha and I would think that those bands were quite a great group of bands that are still relevant. Maybe a little bit more recent (but not much); Tea Party, Wide Mouth Mason, and I Mother Earth are some other ones that seemed to play every show I went to. Headstones is another one that has some good tunes and seemed to be a fair number of shows.Yeah, twas them, haha and I would think that those bands were quite a great group of bands that are still relevant. Yeah the bands they used to play on The Bear 106.9! Our Lady Peace was another Canadian band from that era. Of all that group, Tea Party was probably my favorite, maybe because I'm a Doors fan, and they sounded a lot like them lol.Maybe a little bit more recent (but not much); Tea Party, Wide Mouth Mason, and I Mother Earth are some other ones that seemed to play every show I went to. Dave Wilcox was a mainstay of just about any local fair.
Lead singer could be Morrison's illegitimate son, lol. Loved their early stuff,Yeah the bands they used to play on The Bear 106.9! Our Lady Peace was another Canadian band from that era. currently working on this song , by using these chords "Marilyn Manson - Fated Faithful Fatal (Chords)"
This song is very difficult to do because of whatever strumming technique is being used. Anyone have any thoughts on it?
It's been a long time since I've dealt with a passive sub setup (I am assuming that's what you have), It should work, but you'll have different volumes on the two speaker sets. You're also sending a full range of frequencies to the sub so it will likely sound muddy,Anyone familiar with hooking up old speakers to an receiver?
I have a 8-16 ohm amp and have:
two 6 ohm speakers
two 4 ohm speakers and
one 4 ohm subwoofer
Now, if I hook up one 4 ohm and one 6 ohm (10 ohms) speaker together in a series that should be fine
but if the second pair if I add the subwoofer (14 ohms) is that against the law?
Both sets would still be in the 8-16 ohm range.
I was worried about that. It is a passive sub. If I added another 4 ohm speaker to the sub would that improve the sound? I'm only looking for improved bass reallyIt's been a long time since I've dealth with a passive sub setup (I am assuming that's what you have), It should work, but you'll have different volumes on the two speaker sets. Evening out the load would likely just even out the volume. If the receiver has a line level sub out, you could probably use that and a seperate power amp to power the passive sub,I was worried about that. It is a passive sub. The reciever doesn't that's why I'm trying to Macgyver it.Evening out the load would likely just even out the volume. If the receiver has a line level sub out, you could probably use that and a seperate power amp to power the passive sub,
You may be able to improve bass by adjusting your speaker placement, or adding some sound treatment to the room. The reciever doesn't that's why I'm trying to Macgyver it.
It's a small LG sub i got for 5 bucks at a thrift shop just to improve the bass. This has less to do with sound quality and more with just having a functional system that is loud enough. Its a pieced together system. You may be able to improve bass by adjusting your speaker placement, or adding some sound treatment to the room.
