Which NHL teams are making life easiest — and hardest — on their goalies?
Looking at high- and low-danger shots, which teams are putting their goalies in stressful situations this season?

The Stars game was a great example of this. The won the SOG battle. But, Dallas had a lot more high danger shots.
The explanation is simple - teams try hard and pound Buffalo early, then they play safe and protect the lead the rest of the game. So overall shots against are relatively low, but when the opponent needs to they can just flip a switch and generate HDCs if they want.Which NHL teams are making life easiest — and hardest — on their goalies?

No, but that's been the trend for the season, which is what the article was about that Jim Bob posted. In the Dallas game they seemed intent on getting SOGs which is good, but they still didn't generate more HDCs than Dallas so it was a fairly hollow SOG stat.

If UPL and Levi continue their play at their respective levels I’m actually fine with them being the tandem next year. Mostly cuz that means UPL looks like a solid starter
Levi was fine as a backup up here this year. Had a winning record and a respectable SP.
It's not as if he was ThiBlow, Aaron Hell or the other goalie on this roster who I refuse to even name at the moment
To reach his potential, Levi needs consistent practice time and game situation experience. Being the backup in Buffalo isn't going to get him the work he needs to be better than what he is now.
If UPL keeps up his play (not worried about his bad game yesterday, bad games happen), Levi is not going to be anything more than a backup anyways
He would get consistent practice time as the backup here if we would only carry 2 goalies

You get way more practice in the AHL given the very different schedule and travel.
They need to let Levi slow cook in Rochester and improve over Comrie as UPL's partner in Buffalo for next season, IMO.
slow cooking was the right way 20 years ago when UFA was 31.
Now that it is 27, slow cooking means we may only have a few years of that player. It could be the Ullmark scenario where we slow cooked him and when he was ready, he bolted before we really got anything out of him

Unless Levi is going to be a starter in the NHL, there is no reasonable argument to have him in Buffalo next season. And I think it would be a mistake to have him starting over UPL to start next season.
then if UPL establishes himself as the long term starter, you need to move Levi at the end of next season to get value for him. UPL being a long term starter playing at the level he has this year is not exactly a bad thing for the team
No more Ullmark scenarios where we get nothing

Devon Levi is 22yo. We have plenty of time to let him develop before having to be concerned with him walking as a UFA.
He's the same age as guys like Quinn, Peterka, and Johnson.

Ullmark stuck in the NHL in his D+7 season.
This is UPL's D+7 season when he's finally fully developed.
And this is only Levi's D+4 season. If he follows a similar path as Ullmark and UPL, he has two more development seasons ahead of him to fully mature into a solid NHL goalie.

Sign UPL to a 4x4 or something similar. Get a backup for 24/25 while allowing Levi to cook in Rochester.
In 26/27, UPL starts while Levi backs up. OR do the same -- UPL starts, backup...Levi in Rochester(UPL would be 26 while Levi would be 24)
In 27/28, UPL and Levi are the tandem.
In 28/29, Levi starts and UPL is either traded or backs up. (UPL would be 28 and Levi would be 26)
Now that both of our goalies are showing signs of growth and progress, don't screw with it.

If UPL is an established top NHL starter (which under your scenario he likely would be), there is no way in hell you make Levi the starter then
Levi is either the backup or trade bait at that point (and it would more likely be trade bait due to expansion coming down the line)
