Amazing news and an amazing spot for a stadium.

To think we can be watching the Expos on a beautiful summer night, by the water, not far from downtown is great.

Now they need to demolish those ugly grain silos blocking off the views of the river.

Happy to see they chose Bassin Peel! watching games on hot summer nights in open roof stadium, nice view with the water and city skyline... it's gonna be awesome!

or turn them into condos..lol

I don't think that is possible from an engineering point of view. They are probably too damaged and unable to be modified easily to residential purposes.

I also don't think they should do it even if they could. We don't want the waterfront inaccessible, and vistas ruined by a wall of towers like they did in Toronto.

I really hope they move the Tampa Rays to Mtl, they have a great team and an even greater farm club... and it would be a massive middle finger to Tampa fans who are enjoying the welfare system of the NHL right now. It would be a much better starting point to a expansion team (I doubt MLB would be as generous as the NHL towards expansion clubs).

Would be ideal, then they can move the Panthers to Quebec City.

Do get your hopes too high... the way the NHL is siphoning money from northern teams into 10 000 fans cities like Sunrise, they'll be able to spend to the cap limit and sign both Panarin and Bobrovski this summer while occupying both first places with the other welfare team in the sunshine state...

How soon do you want baseball back in Mtl?
You'll be waiting too long a time for the RAYS

If you want baseball to return soon ..it's expansion...
now you're talking 3 - 4 years away(if they start at Big O) as the new stadium is being built

I would expect just like the NHL these high expansion fees means a team gets GOOD from day 1....that should give the Expos time to add pieces ..then go for Guerreo jr in his prime when he goes to free agency.. that will help enormously to sell the team....(butts in seats /eyes on TV)

Don't care if they pick a spot for their imaginary team, as long as it's 100% privately funded. As I've said before, I don't want to see one cent of my tax dollars going towards this ridiculously stupid shit-show of an idea.

Almost every province in the country, has spent $$$ on things way worse...that being said, it should be private funds, but the city/province gets some benefit out of having a another pro sports team, so there will have to be some concessions made by all levels of gov't to help in some way.

Not convinced. Starting new. Expos didnt work. So im guessing let the fans decide

Winnipeg Jets ..left town..came back as?

Quebec Nordiques left town..IF they come back ..it will be Nordiques.

If Hartford even got another NHL team..it would be Whalers again

Expos...left town..i'd bet millions it will be Expos when they return

There are names you just don't mess with...
