Continue here. These are the last four posts in the thread:

I would say the things that stand out would be a good place to start.

And I already gave you a list of several

I guess we will disagree on what stands out

If TNS like Maurice so much they should find him another spot in their company. I probably would he seems to be a good guy.

But
He is nearing or already pass his life expectancy as a coach of this team already.

Need a new voice and new direction.
2 years with super solid line up. Top to bottom. Team got 1 WCF in which they got schooled.

Its a brand new team, good time to get someone in fresh.
Coach had 2 cracks already.

Another way to look at it is if they were completely satisfied with the job he was doing do you think they would have left him coaching in a lame duck year with only one year remaining on his deal?

This is make it or break it for Maurice imo.

How do we know he isnt extended already and they are keeping it a secret?

New thread?

Checking in for team not-a-bad-coach-just-does-things-every-coach-does-and-all-fans-hate-but-if-he-lost-the-room-then-it's-time-for-new-blood.

How do we know he isnt extended already and they are keeping it a secret?

Friedman and LeBrun have both reported that he's in the last year of his contract.

Both are quite reliable when they're reporting facts and not hemming and hawing about 'you have to think that,' or 'it makes you wonder if...'

If you want to make up some bullshit about a secret contract be my guest, but you sound like a crazy person.

Why would it be so crazy? Handshake deals happen all the time. It would actually make more sense that maurice knows he isnt going anywhere.

More sense than reporters having sources?

More sense than the coach of a team that took a step back having to prove that it was a blip and they're still on pace?

Can I get a citation for your assertion that handshake deals happen "all the time"?

Maurice's first deal was handshake deal for the entire first season.

Also chevy doesnt expect much from this team this year and that's obvious from how the offseason was handled.

Maurice will get 2 more years after this one

I thank God our PP has finally changed.
Everyone in the building knew what we were doing before and during our PP. Wheeler standing still with only Scheif and Laine as options for a quick shot was ridiculous.
I love the new look with Wheeler using his size and quickness down low, Connor in the slot with a deadly shot, Scheif on one side, Frenchy on the other and JoMo up top.
I'd still like Nik replacing Frenchy.
Not sure what to do with Laine.

No, Maurice signed a contract for the remainder of the season and, the story went, both sides agreed to spend that year to see if it was a good fit.

In other words, both sides agreed that nothing was decided for the following years. The opposite of a handshake deal.

I'd like to see us run 5 forwards. It worked for Laviolette in Carolina. Laine, Scheif, Connor, Wheeler and Ehlers on the points. 5 best players arguably. Lots of skill and ability to move the puck. quickly. Run Perreault-Little-Roslovic, with Morrissey and Pionk on the 2nd unit.

Agree that PP was predictable, especially without Buff , who was a viable option to shoot from the point, to spread the seam wider. Have to adapt in the NHL, especially as video scouting picks apart weaknesses.

Who runs the Jets PP, Maurice or Kompon? I know Maurice runs the personnel, but I don't think he has anything to do with the system?

What the h€!! is Pomo doing!!?? Rewarding BLake Wheelers lousy October with keeping him on the forst line and the first pp?

I have no problem with moving frenchie up but put Connor on the half wall and for chrissakes play Patrik on the first pp, this is getting absolutely ridiclous!!

Even if you are from Minnesota and hate Patrik Laine's gut you have to agree wheeler has been terrible, if not witch team have you been watching.

Yeah quite ridiculous to take the PP specialist off the PP. Even with how bad the PP has been Laine still has 4 points on it. He should be in the left slot no matter what position or personnel changes happen on the PP as long as he’s not the problem.

Is that you Paul?

Laine scored PP goals at a higher rate than anyone in the league(including Ovechkin) during his first 3 seasons...

I want Maurice gone with the best of them, but disagreeing what Friedman and Lebrun are saying to put your own narrative spin on the Org is terrible.

It sounds like Leaf fans agreeing with an insider when it's good for the team, but disagreeing with it when it doesn't...

This team is currently 8-7-0 .

5 of the 8 wins have come in OT or a SO

5 of the 8 wins we have been out shot

We give up 33.7 shots per game, good for 5th worst.

We have the 2nd worst PK in the NHL.

JMO, but if it wasn't for goaltending, the Jets would probably be a lot closer to 3-12 then being 8-7.

Coaching is not the reason this team has any wins.

I don't know if we run Kompon's systems. I honestly don't remember any changes to our setup from when he arrived.

Exactly....that is what the jets did with this last contract, didn't announce the signing until training camp even though the contract was signed at the end of the previous season.

Could be wrong, but it's being reported...

NHL Rumors and Notes: Winnipeg Jets, Coaching UFAs, and the Edmonton Oilers - MyNHLTradeRumors.com

There are three coaches that could be ‘free agents’ after this season.

Detroit Red Wings Jeff Blashill signed a two-year extension last season, but year two is an option.

Minnesota Wild coach Bruce Boudreau only has two years as a consultant after this season, no coaching contract.

Winnipeg Jets Paul Maurice is in the last year of his deal with no options.

Options! We don't need no stinking options!
