I believe it's not personal, but if he says "yeah the Coyotes are staying in Arizona and this deal likely gets done" then nobody clicks his stuff
The way he’s interacted with coyotes fans on Twitter and his blatant disregard for actually including all the facts in his reporting makes it feel real personal

I just can't see a scenario where AM doesn't win the bid. Within two months , you'd need a rich guy coming out of nowhere with a perfect project to convince the officials AND willing to outbid a fairly desperate rich man for that one specific piece of land amongst many others. There's no way.

This is the coyotes. There's always a way for things to get dumber and more complicated.

So Seravalli is again pouring cold water on Daly’s and Bettman’s comments, stating that he is more focused on what they didn’t say versus what they did.

He mentions the following:

- Bettman and Daly did not say that the Coyotes were for sure playing in Mullett Arena next year. He hints that this potentially provides a chance for them to try and force a sale back to the league so that the league can profit from the sale and a relocation fee from Ryan Smith/SLC.

- States that according to his reporting behind the scenes, the NHL may be exploring the way they can legally obtain the team back from Meruelo. Says one way they could do this is make Meruelo “whole” by replacing every dollar he has spent as the owner.

- States that he believes the NHL does not want to partner with Meruelo anymore.

- States that the NHL would need to make this decision within the next 70 days or it will become too late for them to not give AM the chance to win the auction and see where that goes

- States that he believes there have been talks of relocating the team this year, and granting an expansion team to Arizona in 2 years once an arena is built, but also mentions that he believes the NHL would not want to do that with AM. Would prefer another owner do that (doesn’t make sense though, as AM is most likely the only bidder that has plans to build an NHL arena within 2 years.)

There’s so much absolutely fantastical foolish nonsense in there that it discredits the somewhat believable bits. So much of it is just outright stupid and you’d have to be an idiot to believe it. Makes it rather easy to just Chuck the whole thing into the bin.

Based on your synopsis (didn't bother to listen), it doesn't make any sense.

Why would the NHL be against a thorough rebuild? And it's not gonna be 6 to 8 years in a college barn.
Great questions! First Bettmans biggest pride is parity between teams. He doesn't want dynasty he wants entertainment. Any night any team can win. Main purpose of salary cap second to control expenses. Tanking destroyed that parity and created uncooperative advantage to teams in our division. Also lowers approval ratings and viewership. How many game per year are on national TV for the Yotes? Wonder why?

6 to 8 years in the bingo hall arena, most likely. Even if we win the land this summer it will take a year for contracts and permits. Hopefully in that year you will be able to get the infrastructure in place to start to build the project.

Try to get the material such as steel and cement for a project of this size, logistically speaking you will need to use every contact you know. Hopefully no other large projects are going on.

Flood water environment permits in Canada can take years to attain with proper approvals. In Arizona I don't know if it's only state or Federal. Waterways are normally federal.

Then we get ready break ground. Normally large earth moving equipment are hard to get and tower cranes book out years in advance. Normally developers have sister companies to help out. Do not know if AM has this.

Crap wife saying late for supper. If the Coyotes stay will bet a whiskey or wings that the Yotes will need at least 4 more years at the bingo hall arena :)

Unless the Mesa location was a red herring, he actually appears to have a Plan C. I think he's swinging for the fences here and I understand and am not a bit concerned at this point.

20+ years of being a joke franchise?

If you think this team's woes are new and are caused by what AM & BA are doing, you're nuts. They're the ones trying hard to fix things around here and the NHL knows it. It's painful and it doesn't happen overnight. Sometimes maybe even a step back is necessary, as long as you take two steps forward.

Even if Meruelo wins the auction, something is going to pop up that either stops the process or delays it a substantial amount of time. There's no way this is going to be an easily-done thing.

For those of you that are salivating at the renderings and overly confident about it getting done, please reference your posts about the TED renderings and confidence in that getting done.

It's always been difficult with this circus franchise. Why would this time be any different?

I've been wondering if you live here in AZ or not. Wondering if that's why you seem to think this team is/was more popular locally. Like we continue to lose something the longer this all takes. It's not like that, IMO.

Years and years full of bankruptcy, bad ownership groups, bad publicity, relocation rumors, and on and on is the reason only the most crazy and diehard fans are left. Hell, it's rare to find a Coyote fan outside of the arena or even find Coyotes merchandise out on the street.

Talk to people here about the team and you get one of three things: "They're still here?", indifference, or straight up hostility to their existence.

AM had nothing to do with the past. Everything he's doing is to save the team from the lingering effects of the past. It's been this way for a long time before AM bought the team.

Not just you. I always thought it was lame to be named after the state. I think the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Blues sound better than the Missouri Chiefs or Missouri Blues. The Michigan Red Wings, Massachusetts Bruins and Red Sox, etc. That's just me though.
It's probably too late to switch back. People would throw a fit.

Why are you wasting your time listening to these hacks? Not many worse than Seravalli.

I believe this is it. The NHL has been questioning AM moves and probably have tried to buy him out. (All-star break) AM said FU and lawyered up. Now it's in NHL court, increase the money, force the sale and prepare for legal battle or give AM rope and hopefully build a case. Everything hinges on franchise agreement and sale contract. The wording is so critical. I believe the NHL wants AZ market but do not want AM 6 to 8 years tank in a college barn.
Are you really serious?

I don't get it either. AM is doing exactly what the NHL wants with one exception. It's taking longer than they hoped or wanted. Pulling the rug out from under him now sure wouldn't speed anything up or solve any problems. He's been the best owner this team has ever had AINEC. Took 20 years to find him.

They want him to succeed, he's making progess towards their mutual goal.. IF he somehow loses the land bid, all bets are off.

For those of you who are salivating at the renderings and understand it's far from over yet (i.e. almost everyone here), keep doing what you're doing, there's nothing wrong with hoping no matter what our our small but vocal doomer contingent would have you believe.
