GDT: All Encompassing 4 Nations Discussion.

Canada made a deal out of having cup winners it seems. It’s a talking point at least.

So it seems to me that when they built the team they picked two cup winning goalies, that they’d both get a minimum of 1 game, then perhaps merit or matchup based going forward. Maybe not, but it kinda makes sense.

From a matchup perspective: you’d expect the USA to have way more netfront presence than any other team and Adin Hill is gigantic.

I could see them start hill but after reading a bunch of opinions I’m thinking they should stick with Binnington.

If I had to guess: they use binnington versus anybody but the US, and hill in those games, taking advantage of Binner’s athleticism and Hill’s being enormous.

binnington and parayko both played decently

i'd knock binner for the first goal more than the 2nd. he was screened on both, but goal #2 is entirely on old man doughty giving up the blue line and circles to kempe, while screening binnington in the process. sure, it went through his arm and that's a weak spot for him that we're all too familiar with, but all doughty had to do was step up and he did the opposite, giving kempe a golden chance.

parayko played pretty good, helped set up a goal, and looked good with morrissey.

canada started the game with domination and it really never should've went to OT, but they sat back a lot with the lead, so we'll see how they handle the next game.

John Cooper himself said they don't want to use a goaltender rotation which goes directly against what you're saying here.
