A lot of rumours about a new deal with WBD being announced next week with the PPV's moving onto the new streaming platform. 1 billion is the number being thrown around.

So that billion number is completely false and was started on a rumor on the observer forums (Alvarez blamed people on the internet, ignoring it was people on his company's forums)

It's going to be a very lucrative number, but a billion was always pretty out of line with what Warner has paid for live sports in the recent past.

The big win for them IMO is getting the PPVs on Max finally.

Meh, it probably won't be that far off. The number sounds big but per year it really isn't that out of line with what Warner has paid for something like the NHL.

Kyle Fletcher and Action Andretti were wearing basically the same ring gear in their match on rampage. Mildly confusing lol

Do they test for PED’s in AEW? Some guys I’m watching on older takeovers look way more cut in AEW

AEW hasn't made it public if they do have PED testing. Safe assumption is probably them not having one though.

Probably talking to Tony about taking some time off
Penny to a pound that he'll part of the crew of the new AEW show Collision. Ditto Thunder Rosa(who also made her return.)

I had to rewatch that segment last night. At first I thought there was a fight or something else besides Christian that got the crowd so riled up. But nope, it was just Christian....
Something about him and Detroit just brings out the nasty in him, promo-wise. The crowd was REALLY giving him the business.

I'm not up to speed on the CM Punk stuff. Does it seem likely he'll be on the Forbidden Door show? Thinking of getting tickets.

AEW put on their 2nd house show ever last Friday night in Corbin, Kentucky and looking at the review it doesn't sound like a very good card. The attendance was around 1,500 in a 5,000 seat arena. It should be noted that the WWE was running a Smackdown show the same night in Knoxville which is only about an hour away from Corbin. The results of the AEW show were:

Hook vs. Ethan Page – Hook won with the Redrum. Page controlled most of the match and heeled it up jawing with the crowd. Like everyone on the card, the wrestlers worked hard and put in the effort. Also, Bobby Cruise was ring announcer for the night and Aubrey alternated ref duties with Mike Posey. The merch stand stayed busy all night with everyone seeming to bought a shirt of one kind or another by the time the night was over.

Christopher Daniels & Shawn Spears vs. The Boys – Daniels won with the moonsault. Big pop initially for the Boys as the crowd thought it was going to be Dalton Castle when the music hit but that died down once everybody saw he wasn’t here. Daniels got a nice reaction, Spears not so much. The Boys worked heel.

Toni Storm vs. Billie Starkz – Storm won with Storm Zero. Starkz got a big reaction as she is from Louisville. Big and forth match, with Starkz showing a lot of promise. Some comedy as Storm accidently sprayed herself in the face with the spray paint.

Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin vs. Big Bill & Lee Moriarty – Cassidy pinned Moriarty with a rollup. Allin did a coffin drop to the floor on Big Bill. OC got the biggest reaction for any wrestler on the show. Big Bill looked impressive with his power moves on both Darby and OC. After the match, OC brought a kid dressed as him into the ring and he and Darby spent alot of time interacting with fans at ringside.

Intermission brought the surprise of Tony Khan himself coming out to thank the fans for coming. He said they looked forward to coming back to Corbin, but after the poor turn out, I doubt that’s happening. Tony got the loudest reaction as it was a total shock to see him there.

Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Pat Buck – Hobbs won the extended squash with the spinebuster. Match kind of lost the crowd as it was a bit slow and plodding, as was Buck. I think the fans were expecting a quick squash, as Hobbs was over, but this match just kept going. Buck did hit Hobbs with a dropkick from the top at one point.

Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brian Pillman Jr. – Claudio won with the giant swing. Pillman submitted after 18 revolutions. Pillman is looking and acting more like his dad. Same appearance and ring gear, wrestling style as well. Handshake before the match with Pillman acting more heelish than Claudio.

FTR vs. The Gunns – FTR won with the Shatter Machine. Old school tag match. FTR was way over. Lots of Ass Boy chants. Great main event.

Supposedly he is coming back like a week before Forbidden Door. So it is possible in that he should be back, whether they will book him for a match I don't know.

It also should be noted...

Corbin is a home rule-class city in Whitley, Knox and Laurel counties in the southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 7,856. Since North Corbin is seemingly connected to Corbin...North Corbin is a census-designated place in Laurel and Knox counties in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The population was 1,727 at the 2020 census down from 1,773 at the 2010 census.

So a combined ~9600. I'm going to assume you copied and pasted the article including the top. Funny they mention 1500 in a 5000 seat arena but not the 10,000 city population and that it's in the middle of nowhere.

The other show can't be defended as easily with it's maybe 2000-2500 attendance. It was in Salem, VA which has a population of 25k however it is adjacent to Roanake, VA which has a population ~100k. Well, maybe it can because it's a house show with a potentially lackluster card but at least the population base was there for a potentially successful show.

This is cringe. I get what they're doing but this is just trying too hard. But I also understand I'm not the target audience.
I think it’s funny. I cannot believe that they would actually put any money behind this. It’s just a throwaway design you can order if you want but I am certain they aren’t gonna get stuck with anything.

Not a huge fan of this being at 8pm, but I understand 'prime time.'

Insider saying it was never the plan to announce a new TV deal and there currently isn't one yet.

Was a baseless internet rumor run amok similar to the Saudi buys WWE stuff

I legit don't even give a f*** anymore. Either f*** off and part ways, or figure your shit out.

I was having quite a few drinks on Monday night at my local bar and bought Forbidden Door tickets. 300 level but still pricey. I don’t regret it but not sure I would have bought them sober. Also, in the moment I bought a Sting shirt from AEW's website to wear to the show. I didn't have any gear of any current AEW guys. Anyone here going?
