Tony Khan admits that the debut of Satnam Singh could have been done better. We'll put this in the " No S**t Tony " folder.

Tony Khan says he wishes he had handled Satnam Singh's debut differently.

The 7ft 3inch former basketball player debuted following the main event of AEW Dynamite this week. After Samoa Joe defeated Minoru Suzuki, the lights in the building went out and when they came back on, Singh was in the ring. He then aided Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt in their attack on Joe.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, the AEW President addressed criticism of the angle.

"I could have done it better. It's one of those things, I wish I had done it a little differently," Khan said.

"There were things about it I probably should have done differently, now I see in hindsight. To be honest, it wasn't my idea to turn the lights out but I am the ultimate filter, I'm the person who everything goes through. I put the outline of the show together and when I came in Wednesday, I thought it was the best outline I've ever put together, one of them, at least."

The AEW President continued to say that Singh is an important performer for the company. Our Dave Meltzer previously reported that the angle was designed to build the AEW brand in India, and has much to do with the WarnerMedia/Discovery merger.

"People might not have liked it. Satnam is an important person for us. It was important to debut him in a meaningful way and to show that with Jay Lethal, he's going to be a force to be reckoned with," Khan continued. "At the same time, turning the lights out for somebody people didn't recognize, it's a great point. To be honest, the person who brought up turning the lights off has over 30 years of experience in pro-wrestling. When they brought it up to me, I was only looking at the pros and I should have thought about the cons."

"We had all these people in the room and somehow not one person when that idea came up brought up the negatives and then when we did it, all of a sudden all of the negatives were very obvious."

He continued to say, however, that while the angle has been criticized, it has also garnered the international attention he was hoping for.

"I think it created a lot of buzz. Satnam's debut has been the most watched thing out of the show and frankly, it's gotten international attention I've wanted it to get," he said.

Khan continued to say that the response to the angle has been a learning experience for him, however.

"I appreciate what their feedback was and now as I am in my third year of doing this, I would not do that that way again and these are the things you learn going into year three that I would do different in year four or five."

I don't expect it but I'm really hoping that the Acclaimed are next in line for the tag titles. I guess Bowens is injured right now but not long term.

Can TK's announcement please be AEW PPVs, AEW and ROH's catalogue, and a ROH show on HBOMax please?

An AEW/NJPW supershow would be fun too but I really want a streaming service.

It's a glaring issue for the company. You cannot access their content in the number 1 way people access content these days.

I'm not sure of that's true but I assume most people watch streaming services over regular cable. I just want to be able to watch the PPVs on a TV w/o cable.

All of their PPV's have been available on bleacher report

I didn't see it, but it's really strange just how quickly people turned on Sammy and Tay. This was supposed to be a spot for Cody and Brandi and they just stepped into it just because they happened to be a couple. Beyond that, both of them feud against Dan Lambert, who has been AEW's biggest heat magnet since he's been there.

I think exploding on the TNT title made everyone turn on them.

They became that couple on social media that everyone hates because they are so obnoxious. Everything circles back to them reminding us they have sex. We get it!

I always got the impression a decent amount of people never cared for Sammy, but Tay seemed pretty universally liked as a babyface so I think this pairing has hurt her the most.

Also the Brandi/Lambert stuff was AWFUL. Cody and Brandi leaving was a perfect time to abandon that angle and move on, instead they just inserted Sammy and Tay into it.

TNT title is a long way from when it felt super important with Miro (and honestly Cody) as champ.

God's champ coming back and taking the belt off Sammy ASAP would be great.

With Cody and Brandi, it at least seemed like a heel turn was coming. Or it was the unique Cena type of heat where they were still playing faces but they weren't being particularly obnoxious. They were just shoved down our throats.

Sammy and Tay should be babyfaces but separate from each other. Both were doing so well a few months ago.

It’s also kinda weird how obnoxiously in our faces they have been with it so close on the heels of Sammy’s public she said yes display on a live episode of Dynamite with a different woman.

The story on that is that when it came out they were together they received psychotic and deranged abuse from morons on social media and they decided to respond by trolling back by publicly flaunting it.

Getting around to rampage now

BCC vs Gunn Club was fun. Billy Gunn is awesome. I laughed when he went inside out on a clothesline.

I love The Butcher and idc who knows

I’m a Butcher fan too. I just know what he is and don’t mind. He’s a high calibre mid card heel jobber. Him and Blade wouldn’t be the worst opponents in the world for face tag champs like Jurassic Express on a Rampage while they’re between real programs or some shit like that.

Kushida's contract reportedly expired and wasn't renewed. I would lose my goddamned mind if he showed up unannounced on an upcoming Dynamite. Hell bring back Alex Shelly and reform the Time Splitters!!!!!

Dalton Castle and the Boys is perhaps a top 5 act in wrestling

Watching battle of the belts and the crowd loved him. And I do too. I’ve seen him before but not a ton and he’s got this gimmick down perfectly

Satnam Singh looked a lot better this time out. A lot more charisma. Looked way more comfortable. Better than Omos imo

I mean, being better than Omos is hardly a feat.

Lol fair

Singh looked omos-bad in his debut. I wasn't expecting improvement, it caught me off guard.

They did him no favors going lights out for his debut. That and his lack of intensity killed things. This was much better

It was indeed much better. I still have 0 interest in him though.

Well, it is mostly that I have no interest in seeing him feuding and most likely beating Samoa Joe.

I forgot how big Castle was. He paved the way for Effy with the gimmick. Effy just took it 1000x further
