With the system so stocked with high potential prospects, I don't mind throwing some picks around. Hoping for a move or two here to add depth to the forward group. This team is more worthy for help than last years.

Burrows, Vrbata, Purcell, Vanek, Sharp, Iginla, Stafford, Ribeiro, Purcell, McClement, even a guy like Gionta. Bickell is making a comeback, he'd be a nice fit on the 4th line. I'm just throwing names out there, don't get all riled up.

I wonder if Vanek would fit in nicely with Krejci and Pasta.
I wouldnt mind a deal similar to what Anaheim did with Eaves for Vanek, trading a conditional 2nd that might become a first if we go far.
Its a weak draft anyways so, and we have so many prospects that are looking like theyll become NHL players.

No ****ing rentals.... that is all. Be smart Donny. Don't get fleeced or do something short sighted

i think it's coming - in fact, i expect 3 trades. a top 9 forward, a top 4 defenseman, a backup goalie. maybe khudobin saved his job, but maybe not. i also expect joe morrow to be moved in one of those deals. who are they targeting? pick any of the top 10 rental forwards and likely they're in on a lot of them. i think oduya, b.smith, maybe kyle quincey are D options. just don't see a major deal coming at the deadline involving a young player with term (like landeskog).

But do they have to be rentals?

Just say no to rentals.

Find players we want beyond July and make it happen. Otherwise, don't pay for guys that are walking in July. Haven't we learned our lesson? We tried last year, and the team actually played worse with the rentals.

The one spot is top 2-3 line winger

They are getting someone

Sharp Vanek

Seriously this team could be a pain to anyone and if I'm Sweeney I'm upgrading the Cehlarik and Hayes spots

No Carlo but I'd go back to Sakic with a group for Landeskog

Boy that is a wide variety of players. Vanek can still play. He'd be interesting.

Sharp is a rotting corpse. Just a horrible hockey player at this point. he makes the team worse if he is on the ice.

Roussel would look good in place of Hayes on the third line.

Doubt Dallas would want to move him, but you never know.

Aside from Lando, I think you can concentrate on #18 to #26 on this list as a potential "rental"

Ugh.

I don't see Doan waiving for Boston.

Honest question to those who may of seen him more than me.

How bad is Iginla now? Is he worse than or better than Jimmy Hayes?

I know he's not even close to the player he once was, and a bit of a liability 5 on 5.

But if he's an upgrade on Hayes, could it be an option? Considering reports are no team has called on Iginla, the cost to acquire might be next to nothing.

If it was 6 weeks ago, I may have suggested getting him almost exclusively for the 2nd power play unit, but not the way the PP has looked lately.

Agree, I don't see the need of him on the PP. Looking at Unit 2, who does he bump out? Cehlarik is the easiest choice but I like what he's brought and don't want to overload that unit with too many right-handed shots, which it's 4 R and 1 L when Colin Miller is in the line-up if Iginla is in a Cehlarik off the PP.

He wouldn't kill penalties, so he'd strictly be used 5 on 5.

Probably a bad idea overall.

Wait, when I look at the list it's Perreault and Enroth. Was the list updated or were you just talking about Doan as an aside?

Dom- Given what you know/hear re: Lando, do you see any of the parties bridging the gap/compromising to get the deal done? It seems there is real interest on Sweeney's part but my concern has always been that this was just a market test for Sakic with no real interest in trading him.

I'll take #22 and call it a day. He'd having a terrible year, but has been a pretty good player until recently, and he is a guy who gives you an honest night effort on a continuous basis.

I wouldn't overpay for him

Agreed.

Those two holes they have look so much more manageable if one of them is filled (Krejci's wing, top pairing RHD).

AND with how this team is playing, I would even entertain the idea of a Shattenkirk rental if he has literally killed his market value trying to force his way to New York.

If I can get some value for Morrow or Liles and take that value and pair it with a mid prospect and pick for help on that top line to finish the season, that's a win and the Atlantic is really Boston's for the taking.

Boston was at 35-1 odds to win the Cup so when I see those long odds I put money down!

Time for Sweeney to put something down on this core.

I want Landeskog so bad. I'd definitely give up a 1st and a non-McAvoy prospect. But since that doesn't feel nearly painful enough, it's probably not close. What else might they want?
