Is there a specific reason as to why Alfredsson wasn't drafted prior to the 1994 entry draft? He could have been eligible as early as the '91 draft, seeing how he's born on December 11th, 1972.

That speaks to the era and the amount of punishment those stars took during the DPE. Lots of injuries, impaired performances, short primes and short careers.
