I saw no step from kakko last year and no sign of the definite skill needed to be a consistent top 6 players. last year I saw a laffy that had flashes of skill but not the fitness or general commitment needed. Laffy has brought it though this year
I never mentioned KK being a consistent top 6 player. Not sure why you changed what I said in to something else. I just felt he took a step up last season from his previous season.

Last 32 games

16 G, 14A, 30 Points +13

9 multipoint games (5 over the last 10 games; 8G, 6A, 14P)

41G, 36A, 77 Point pace over 82.

PP points over that span: 2

50 Even strength points for the season. Tied with Tim Stützle and Jason Roberston in that category. More than Brady T, Scheifele, Duchene, Malkin, Horvat etc.

A couple of months ago I was happy with Laf but wanted to see him take another step up. Looks like he is doing that.

Remember when "for a first overall, he doesn't show any flash" was a thing? Pepperidge ****** Farm remembas!!!!
I love how the narrative changes now that he is having such a great season. About 6 months ago he got shit on more than any other player on the team and that is saying something with the ration of shit that Trouba and Mika get. Not many people calling him a bust these days.

looks like he's stepping up.. based on the point scoring results? have you been watching the games?
No I never watch any Ranger games. I have not been watching Ranger games since the mid 1970s. Why would I watch games lol? :D

In past seasons there have been games where he looked good but did not produce on the score sheet. Nice to see him looking good as well as producing. The stats that poster mentioned were a step up from his earlier good season. My only concerns are can he do it at a similar level without Bread (when Bread ages). Also his lines defense specifically Laf and Bread.

It is not really that shocking. When guys play well they get the rewards. That could mean additional playing time, fan appreciation, or a better contract. Last season was not a good season for Laf. We can be honest about that while appreciating how well he has played this season.
