He just needs the assists to start piling up and the doubt will go away. He could easily reach 20 goals with no PP time.

Those assists are scary low though.

Those are so reliant on the other guy finishing. Playing a chunk of time with snake bitten players like Chytil and Gauthier will make getting apples impossible. The important thing is does he demonstrate the vision, awareness and passing ability. He has displayed all 3 just not as consistent as needed to be that dominant force.

The best part of the goal is the fans....when he makes the move they all go "ohhhhhhhhhh", then he roofs it top shelf and they go nuts. Love it!

This is kind of a sinister theory, but do you guys think the Rangers might purposefully be limiting Laf and Kakko's opportunities so that they can afford both of them past a few seasons? Let's be real, if they were both pacing for 60 points this season there is no way in hell we can afford to meet their next contract demands with the hefty contracts we're carrying.

I’ll take that one step further, the whole Kravtsov saga was orchestrated by the Rangers to avoid having to sign him to the league maximum contract coming off his ELC

The Rangers need to have the confidence that led to him even attempting that move to rub off on Kakko as well. These two are playing in the best professional hockey league in the world on a very good team--show your team that you belong there. I'm not saying I expect them to be trying Michigan-style goals every night, but they both could afford to be more assertive on offense and shoot more.

indirectly they have played a part. If you're not getting consistent top6 minutes and PP1 time, your numbers will be limited.

The flashy goals are fun for sure, but I don’t need them to form my opinion of a player. That move didn’t move the needle for me because my take was already that he was going to be an excellent NHLer with time. And if he never tried that it wouldn’t change anything.
Those between the legs and MI goals aren’t going to be a predominant part of any players totals. I’d rather a 40 goal scorer with ZERO flash than a 25 goal scorer pulling off trick moves.

I've seen very little of the vision and the passing ability. One of the most alarming signs is the way he executes an odd man rush. Too many times has just sawed the puck in half. I need him to change the way he holds his stick.

If you're trying to low key knock Zegras, he's got 55 points in 69 games. Laf is still trying to crack 50 points in about 130 games played.

I don't ever mind players, especially young players, trying to be flashy. It's a healthy thing for their confidence. When they f*** up trying to be flashy, if they're putting up points for the team, it's almost forgivable. Probably not for this fanbase, lol. When Fox turned it over during that one devils game, despite being a top scoring D-man, this board roasted him. Being flashy also shows their having fun and Laf doing that after being scratched shows he's not sulking and is going to fight for his ice time.
