He's looked better of late. In fact, this looks like the Laf we saw in the playoffs. I agree with the assessment about getting bigger and stronger the way Kakko did.

Looks better than he did in the playoffs right now. Was dropping dimes all over the ice last night and has been for a little bit now. Pushing pucks onto teammates sticks in high danger areas was a huge strength of his in juniors, it's starting to happen at this level now.

He needs to stay local and train with Kreider and the gang this summer. He's skating/training with like no NHL level players during the summer, its like QMJHL over agers, high school kids and beer leaguers.

Lafreniere looked quick last night. Physically and mentally. His skating, his acting, his reacting. It’s called confidence. You can also see his physical strength developing. He could be a beast come playoff time. Whole Kid line could. His coming out party is next year at the latest.

Its almost like having confidence allows quick decisions which changes the whole dynamic of a player. Kid line allows him and the whole line to shine, they seem to have a good idea of what they want to do together without having to just defer to the vet player.

They seem to look to Kakko for the zone entries otherwise they just push the puck up ice with tempo and look for soft areas of the ice to get a shot attempt, our most effective line

They are meshing really well…it’s cool to see that they are knowing where each other will be without looking

Yeah he and Kakko both took the puck to the middle every chance they got, especially at the blueline entering the zone. They're so dangerous there and they have the tools to get there even when defenders are there. It's been a great line. They routinely defer to Chytil for transporting through the neutral zone, but now they each take that responsibility on whenever they have the chance and it makes them so dangerous off the rush when they're all already so good off the cycle. Laf and Chytil still leave a lot to be desired in the dzone, but you live with that for what they do on the other two thirds of the ice.

Not sure that really applies to Chytil anymore. Kid makes a lot of great defensive plays now.

Chytil always looks a little all over the place in the defensive zone to me. Not that he isn’t making some good plays too but that whole line feels like they scramble a bit in the defensive zone

I feel like Kakko is the line driver, Chytil is the catalyst, and Laf is…I dunno but since the break he definitely looks like he’s skating better and making reads and plays and facilitating his line mates as well

I’m short, they’re alll good

Imagine not buying the market bottom of Lafreniere.
lmao. Laf. You will soon see that this kid is going to be a captain one day, and you doubters will worship him all the way there. He's a stud going through growing pains with an organization that refuses to put top propsects on top minutes.

Yup. He needs a strong offseason like Kakko had this past summer.
He needs a summer like Kakko? Someone find him a Quebecian model and give him a concert schedule. Preferably also get a video with a ridiculous slapshot. But the model and the concerts are definitely what people here were most excited about for Kakko's future on this team.

Was loving some of the stuff we saw from Laf last night.

Creative, coming into the zone backwards to set up a nice bang bang for Kakkos goal.

Like a waterbug out there. Feet are moving. Seeing more speed. The focus and creativity is flowing. Confidence is back in his game.

He is shooting more and needs to continue that. He still gets closed off on the wall at times because he becomes stationary but that line just has a really great support of the puck and read really well off of each other.

Just needs to keep moving and trust himself to let his game come through. Last night was shades of junior Laf. Great to see.

This team is pretty loaded. It could all come together this year. Lafreniere was one of the last guys we needed most to start realizing his immense ceiling potential. The kid line is where to do it.

Panarin shooting on a line that needs him to shoot.

Gallant may be figuring it out...

Especially once Senko settles in.

We beat the best record team in the NHL on the 4th game in 6 nights in their building with them well rested with our backup goalie. That's a grown man win right there.

“He does nothing well”

Of course, when your confidence has been sewered so badly you can’t to a damn thing on the ice.

Despite being mismanaged horribly, looks like he’s coming around. Just needs to rip one home and the floodgates will open
He does a lot well. He is not being mismanaged. This is a game of inches. Sometimes a guy can be inches away on 80 plays in a season. He is showing better edges and vision. I'm a little surprised the stats have not followed but I'm encouraged by what I see. I see a much better player now than I saw in his first 1.5 seasons. I'd like him to raise both his hustle and aggressiveness 1 more step. If he does I think he will really break through. Our coaches should not let him settle for good enough. Keep making him realize that he is only around 50% of the producer that he can be in the future. I think he will get there.

What I’m seeing from him lately is much more confidence. The game is starting to slow down for him. I’ve been harping for 2 years he’s huberdeau with more edge. I think we are finally seeing things that made him the #1 pick

He’s looked faster and more engaged as well which is an excellent sign for us.

Was just coming to say this. Him getting points is great, but the fact that he's been showing the vision and playmaking that got him drafted 1OA is so huge.

I just want to go back and screen shot some of the posts from 3 weeks ago, some of you are so impatient, this is why New York teams can never rebuild properly

Some of us wanted a TRUE rebuild... that is not what happened

Laf aside so I won't derail the thread (too much)

- Bread
-Trouba
- Goody

Copp for a 1st (yes cond)

- Trocheck

and now Tank

I mean that is NOT a rebuild

So plz stop with the "this is why..." crap

The OWNER & GM are why NY can never rebuild. NOT the fans
