When he played with CK on sat he played on his off wing. He mentioned that he ended up overlapping with Kreider alot because his natural instinct is to move into specific spots. That its hard to get out of those instincts.
While laf is younger, he's likely been playing the exact same position for 15 years or so, my guess is thats likely the same reason.
LW is Panarin's off wing. I said for Lafreniere to play on his off-wing, as most skilled playmakers do.

I'm sure it's uncomfortable at first. Anything new is. Laffy needs to suck it up and push through it

It may be awkward the first few periods or games as Panarin stated. Panarin at RW is dumb and a temporary in game adjustment. Laffy needs to move to RW permanently

He was also supposed to go to a team that had major flaws and Holes in their top 6 and pp1.
He’s blocked from the top 6 right now and pp1.
The more ice time kids like this get, the quicker their development in the nhl.
The more you restrict their ice time the longer it takes. It’s why teams that get a 1oa throw them out even though it leads to short term pain.
Every case is different and let's not pretend we are a coaches or front office. Totally disagree withxl give him more ice time ..so nyr fans wanted the coach you have now...but there still is an issue ??

I don’t have an issue with the coach we have now. Nor am I saying I actually know the answer. I’m saying that nhl development takes time, and I’m not freaking out because he’s not hitting 30g 30a in 10 minutes a game.

Hasn’t Laf said he doesn’t feel comfortable on the right side? He chose Kreider and Panarin over Laf, not Gauthier
They've all said it. But he was going to be tried before he got covid. I'm not comfortable doing a lot of shit in my work, but you do it... and it eventually becomes comfortable.

Having him stay at 3LW is not an option imo. They need to move him permanently

His development is almost at odds with our playoff ambitions, unless we put Bread and Kreids together.

That’s not what anyone has said.
He’s 20 years old. We’re a playoff team. he has two all stars in front of him.
name a scenario like that in the nhl?
I held similar ideas for a long time, but is production so low (less than that of even Goodrow. Rooney and Lindgren have more assists), it's not like he's creeping on a come up, learning by trial and error, he's just not learning, for whatever reason. Long heralded as the best Quebecois player ever, who would separate in and have an immediate impact, I think it might be time to figure he's just not that good.

100% agree here. I'm an off wing player, I shoot left and love playing the right wing. Better shot angle, shoot off the pass ( one timers ), easier to make plays when passing. I'd think it would an easier adjustment to play the off wing than to do be asked to adjust the other way.

No one ever regarded him as the best Quebecois player ever... Mario, Rocket, Lafluer, Bossy, Robitalle, Belliveau, Borque, Potvin, Pat Roy... all Quebecois players.
But yeah, if that was anyone's expectation, that's been dispelled.
Most of us didn't have him Generational, but as a franchise foundation type player. Slow start for that as well, but not a forgone conclusion.

goodrow who’s getting 5+ Extra minutes of ice time and has several empty net points, that goodrow?
if you watch Laf and the casualness in his game, you can see the skill. Is he wowing us with insane moves every game nope, but occasionally he does something that highlights his skill level. He just needs a little more time but the bust conversation should hold off for a really long time.

Lafren doesn't have it. That's the take from management. He , the player, has to figur

Are all those guys French? Because I remember reading he was considered the best forward prospect of French descent. Which I guess Lemieux would be and peace from Montreal, but is he francophone? I never heard an accident, personally.

I don't know if they all spoke French or not, but they ARE all Quebecois born players... I think Doug Harvey was too though his name is certainly not a typical Quebecois name.
The point though is very few people thought of him as generational, never mind better than a generational like Mario Lemieux... I mean that's kind of crazy to predict of ANY player.
He's not generational, he may not end up being a franchise player. I DO think he will be an excellent 200 foot, physical, scoring forward. A very VALUABLE player. But hey, we shall see, right?

Hope springs eternal but yeah, he's already a solid bottom-six player.'

I always thought it was more cultural... true French-Canadians never lose their original accent. Gallant, AV, Roy, Gilbert, Brodeur... there are Canadians of French descent in PQ that aren't considered Quebecoise... and in fact, fundamentalist PQers don't even consider people from France to be French.

There's a curve and he's still not on it.

Not a bust because he's where he belongs and may belong for awhile, a bottom-six role. He can handle it.

I don't understand people's infatuation with already deciding he's a bust. What is there to be gained from this?

I feel the same way. I sort of feel like this is just becoming more of a general habit of modern society. Instant gratification, impatience, victimhood, complaining and broadcasting it for all different reasons. It's just fun, entertaining and amusing to sensationalize or turn possibilities into runaway conclusions. Happens everywhere, especially on the internet and especially on forums.
