Best thing about that is now Islanders fans can shut their goddamn mouths bout Laf having less assists then varly

I’ve been killing the kid but this is exactly the kind of game I was expecting/hoping to see from him.

The pass to Strome was excellent.

Hit the post with a sweet backhand on a partial break after making a good defensive play.

He still looked disengaged and lazy several times. He made another bad change (I haven’t rewatched to verify) on the first Bruins goal. Still did a bit too much gliding for my taste.

But the bad tonight is the bad I expect to see from a teenager growing into the league. It was accompanied by flashes of the high end skill that you know is waiting to explode out of the kid.

As long as we get more games like this out of him my “concern” will evaporate.

One of the characteristics he was labeled to have pre draft, was the way he elevates himself during big games/moments. Seeing him come alive with the fans back is very telling. He's gonna love playing to a sold out MSG.

My point I was trying to make. In past games, Kreider would have dumped it in imo. Lafreniere gets the puck with space and does what he does

What's not really noticed is how much space Kreider created for Laf. When Kreider is on, he is really a game changer for his linemates. Even without racking up points.

Honestly, I just see a really dynamic player trying to find his way at the NHL level.

I thought he had a really good first half of the game, made some strides with the puck almost got a goal, worked well along the boards and defensively and fired a nice assist to Strome.

Nice to see him get on the scoresheet. Then the second half he was less engaged and was a little more flat footed and not as a assertive. Amongst some other good flashes. He’s finding his way.

It’s easy to put the blame on the coach but he’s giving him plenty of opportunities. Honestly Lafs play hasn’t earned much more. There is another level to his game which will come. We see it in flashes.

He’s finding his way

That was Lafs best game of the season by far. He’s starting to look comfortable out there. I really wish he scored on that backhand shot.

That pass on the Strome goal was just ridiculous.

Exactly my thoughts as well. Finally saw the high end skill we thought we were getting. Very exciting to see. Also still a bit frustrated by some of his lazy play. I don't know how Quinn isn't in his ear each time he comes back from a shift where he floated.
