I hope he can defend. His contract is at 3.75m for the next 2 years. We will see how he play with us.
He can play in his own zone and was on the best PK unit in the league. Not sure how that will look with how the Habs play in their own zone thought.

Oh! Oh! The Habs medical team is at it again. The Nashville doctors said he was week to week. The Habs doctor say he's good to go.
It's Nashville docs who cleared him, it happened before the trade.

They traded Kovacevic to make room for a young player and traded for Carrier to rectify that mistake. Hughes/Gorton player assessments are a tad optimistic—Barron, Dach and Newhook, one down and two to go.
I agree the writing is on the wall for one of those two before the start of next season maybe both who knows.
There is not a chance our management are happy with the softness in general.

Yeah, so far the potential analysis isn't to good for sure. Might have been worth it at the time...but anybody in position should always be judged on results.

They will both be here.. they still believe in Dach and obviously will give him plenty of runway to come back from the injury. Newhook will be immediately displaced onto line 3 with the arrival of Demidov.

0 rush to do anything with either of those acquisitions.

Carrier trade moves a guy that they felt was stagnating and wasn't getting to play, got a veteran on the right side of the defense, which insulates them further if they decide to move on from Savard this trade deadline or in the off-season.

We've seen that if they f*** up, they try to rectify that mistake before the player loses all his value. Different stuff from Bergevin.
Newhook and Dach are fine for now. One is clearly a 3rd line player that should excel as one and the other one had multiple severe injuries, I won't throw the towel for now.

Well, I think they made a mistake and are trying to fix things.

Having as many as 5 rookie defencemen on the ice on any given night was wrong.

We had Kovacevic on a minimum wage contract( 1/6th of what Carrier earns) and could have kept him to trade at this year's deadline if need be. We sent him to NJ, and by all accounts, he has been good while Barron has not.

Dach and Newhook were traded and not missed by Chicago and Colorado and will eventually get traded out of Montreal, rebuilding or not.

Don't feel bad. When the Habs traded Chelios for Savard, I was the happiest Hab.
I don’t feel bad about it, I still think it was a good move at that time. We had 0 depth on the RD im our prospect pool and Barron had a good rookie year in the AHL after vient top 4 at the WJC. He didn’t pan out but it happen with prospect

We needed someone to play on the right side , he's a good depth player who will eat a lot of minutes.
For now i'm guessing he could play second Dpair , but later on, on a good team, he should be playing 3rd pair. Good move , low cost trade for a righty who will take the minutes for now , for our young guys who dont have enough experience yet.

This is a decent first step of preparing the overhaul of the RD stable
Jury's out on Mailloux but I remain Supremely confident in Reinbacher, just feel like he actually surprises and impresses I rly do

It's insane how badly obvious it is we have to trade Matheson for a RD
Whatever it takes.
If the cost of a #1RD includes Mailloux as part of the deal yup see ya later.
