This is far from the worst outcome. I'll take it.

Fib fracture...almost the best outcome. Not a true weight-bearing bone and easy to PT. If the fracture is high enough, he won't even need cast.

This is probably the best possible news. No surgery, no weakening of a joint going forward, and he'll be out less than two months. It's not good news, but it could have been a hell of a lot worse.
