Whoever said Kerfoot is a sneaky-dirty player is right. Plays right on the edge but does just enough to not get called. That "oops I've fallen down slash" on the PP negated a 3 on 2 for the Habs then sets up an assist lol. If that happened to us, we would be annoyed but at least we have a player that knows how to game the rules a bit.

I’ve been the biggest Kerfoot hater but he’s been great this series. He’s also being an absolute pest and I love it, been a few times where he’s gotten dirty out there.

I was definitely not a big fan of him earlier in the season and last year, but he's really picked his game up.

The only gripe I have is that he's not very good at faceoffs. I would like to see someone else take some draws for him.

If the trade is kerfoot for kadri it’s worth it now. Kerfoot is in the series playing the game of his life 5 points in 3 games. More points than mcdavid in 1 less game. What a beast

Spending large on rentals doesn't really make a difference. Between Cup Winners and Finalists the past 10 years (since 2011):

Made Significant Rental Moves (i.e. 1st round picks, top prospects, etc.)
2011 Boston (W) -> Acquired Kaberle
2015 Chicago (W) -> Acquired Vermette
2016 San Jose (L) -> They traded 2 2nd's and a 3rd for Polak/Spaling/Reimer so close enough.

Mid-Tier Rental Moves (i.e. 2/3 round picks, mid-tier prospects)
2011 Vancouver (L)
2012 New Jersey (L)
2013 Chicago (W)
2013 Boston (L)
2016 Pittsburgh (W)
2017 Pittsburgh (W)
2018 Washington (W)
2019 Boston (L)

No Moves/Non-Rental Moves/Depth Moves for late round picks
2012 LA (W)
2014 LA (W)
2014 NYR (L)
2015 Tampa (L)
2017 Nashville (L)
2018 Vegas (L)
2019 St. Louis (W)
2020 Tampa (W)
2020 Dallas (L)

Only 15% of the Cup Finalists went big on rentals. Worked out 66% of the time so I guess that is promising but for the most part teams that make it far either don't need to make those kinds of moves or there were some teams that were probably not good enough to justify those kinds of moves but surprised their way to the Finals.

Mind you, a lot of the teams in the last category made big moves involving 1st round picks + but they got guys with term (i.e. Carter in LA, Coleman/Goodrow in Tampa, St. Louis in NYR, etc.). Not really the same as paying a 1st for a rental when you get a guy for 2+ runs (like we did with Muzzin) though.

Always saw him as mediocre player. Could skate well, was okay defensively and had a muffin of a shot. But he's been an excellent pest of late. Didnt see that coming. Wish he would shoot a bit more though, even with that muffin shot, you still have a decent chance in tight.
