Alexander Frolov retires

Sounds like you dont like Frolov to much Ron. You're one of the people that give him crap even though he was one of the few bright spots in that dark era.

I guess we have different opinions on him. . I will always remember him as a great player and fan favorite. Wish him the best of luck.

Whether I like him or not is irrelevant. He didn't deliver. Dude wasted all the talent he had because he didn't have the drive, and that drove me up the wall.

FYI, for whatever reason, I have a soft spot for Russian players on the Kings. Maybe because its what I believe initially is a tremendous sacrifice for them to come play here. For this reason, Voynov is one of my favorite players and I cringe when he makes a mistake, which were numerous last season. And I am still pissed at the Kings for excluding Loktionov's name from the Cup in 2012. He deserves to be on there.

And I really liked Frolov initially, but for the reasons enumerated in this thread, I can't get behind a player with that much talent that wastes it. Don't ignore the links I posted in my last post here. That benching summarizes all that is wrong with Frolov. Even so, Lombardi gave him two more seasons to shape up, and he still didn't get it done.
 
Frolov had some shortcomings but still scored a lot of goals on some horrible teams. He was at his best when Demitra (RIP) was here.

We are not talking about a passenger here. Sometimes you need to be lucky too. If Frolov played for this team, he would have his name on the Cup too.

I love these people sitting behind their screen telling others how much he sucked. IMO than you are probably a total *** in real life too. Just my opinion.

He wouldn't fit in with this current group of Kings.

What do you mean by wasted talent? He had five 20+ goal seasons including two 30+ goal seasons. He lead our team in goals for two seasons.

How high of expectations did you have on Frolov? He did some really good things on some very crappy teams.

No, he would not have his name on a Cup, because he didn't fit into the "team first" concept. He didn't care enough to be a champion.

We can disagree on issues but the name calling is over the top. You need to keep it real here.

Well there are a lot of other things to mention about him too, yet this thread is filled with way too much crap about him. Some should be ashamed.

At least in Europe fans know how to treat former players who played more than half a decade for their team.

They dont come up coach/contract issues or lame nicknames when a player is announcing his retirement.

That's what message boards are all about. We all can have differing opinions, and we can state them here. On my board I have a motto: attack the post, not the poster. If you disagree with my (and others') content, you should endeavor to dispute it. Not get personal over it.

No, actually, name calling is not allowed by the site rules. But you interpret it as you see fit.

Players are fair game. Calling Frolov "lazy" is well within the rules.

It's all good. You are partially right anyway, I'm being a bit of an a-hole. Kind of just want to turn the page on that horrid era. We have so much more to be thrilled about this coming season and for years to come. :)

Agree with Ron, I'm shocked that Kings fans still look back at certain players with fondness with 2 Cups in 3 years. Not that I didn't like Frolov when he was here but I have zero complaints about his departure or Schenn or Simmonds. Sure those 2 guys are good, young players but they represent what was once the Kings past-lots of pieces floating though, eventually traded or lost to free agency with a new crop who had more promise. Now we get to deal with results, how can you not be happy with the roster going into this season?
