The Calgary Flames are finally contenders imo. I think we need a little more size and scoring punch come playoffs though. This trade is all about now and adding Tuch fills numerous needs. Tuch fits nicely with our core age group and provides a game style that would fit nicely with Sutter’s coaching style. With 4 years left on his contract after this year he will not be cheap to acquire.

My proposal is Alex Tuch to Flames for Matthew Coronato, Dillion Dube, Jusso Valamaki, and our 2022 first rd draft pick.
What is everyone’s thoughts on this trade scenario?

Not a chance.

Sabres were hoping he'd improve modestly on his 20 goal, 55 point projection when they acquired him.

Now they are wondering if 75-80 points is out of the question.

Guy was a massive part of the Eichel return, I don’t see Buffalo trading him unless it’s for some sort of upgrade. He’s young and under contract, he fits their rebuild plans.

Honestly not as bad of a proposal as I expected, but Tuch is more or less untouchable.

I think value wise it’s prob a solid offer for Buffalo…. That being said I don’t think Buffalo is in need of more prospects/assets… they have other pieces they may move for more assets, but tuch should prob be part of the long term plans… specially if tuch wants to be there for the turn around , which it seems like he does

Alex Tuch has 17 points in 15 games with a +8 while playing top line minutes for the Buffalo Sabres. He's untouchable even outside of the other stuff (young, fantastic attitude, loves Buffalo, Eichel trade return, etc.) He's by far the best player in the deal as well.

Value wise it's probably fine, but there's no way Buffalo trades him any time soon. They don't need futures, they need players who can make an impact now and Tuch brings a lot more to this team than just his play (which is excellent).

That’s not a great offer. You’d be giving up your best prospect with that 1st to even get them to consider trading a young affordable power forward who grew up a Sabres fan and was excited to go there. He’s a core piece for them. Probably a future captain

Not a bad offer. At some point, though, Sabres need players that can actually play. Tuch is never going to be a PPG+ over a long period of time, but he brings size, speed, and a scoring touch. Also has experience of playing within a winning organization, which is really important for the Sabres. You want Power and Quinn to come in and have the best team mates possible. Mediocre futures and middle six players won't help.

Nobody on the Sabres should ever be consider untouchable.... However, Tuch is probably pretty close. The guy has apparently bought all in on this deplorable franchise, he's still young, has been a great producer since he got here and is seemingly making those around him (Skinner) better. I would not be surprised at all if he is named Captain this year or to start next season. And he's got a good amount of term left on his team-friendly contract.

Short of a massive overpayment, Sabres aren't trading Tuch.
