The Calgary Flames are finally contenders imo. I think we need a little more size and scoring punch come playoffs though. This trade is all about now and adding Tuch fills numerous needs. Tuch fits nicely with our core age group and provides a game style that would fit nicely with Sutter’s coaching style. With 4 years left on his contract after this year he will not be cheap to acquire.

My proposal is Alex Tuch to Flames for Matthew Coronato, Dillion Dube, Jusso Valamaki, and our 2022 first rd draft pick.
What is everyone’s thoughts on this trade scenario?

Nah.

Edit - most people have laid out why it wouldn't fit right now. For some of those pieces though, I wonder if JT Miller would be a fit instead?

Good offer but Tuch stays.

Calgary has since used their 1st on Toffoli anyways. Good pickup by the Flames. Montreal trading Toffoli made more sense than Buffalo trading Tuch.

That would be Calgary's 2023 1st. I do really like Coronato and wanted him to fall one more spot. If Calgary really wanted him they could easily make Buffalo an offer that was too good to refuse. Don't hold your breath waiting though.

It’s not unusual to see a player break out around 24 or 25 when maturity and experience catch up to talent and collide with an expanded role.

Tuch has always had great character and a power forward’s body and skill set.

He’s built like Jarome Iginla and the Sabres have been using him like he is Jarome Iginla.

It will be interesting to see if his response is a blip, or an actual step, but there is no way the Sabres are interested in moving on from a piece they targeted as a return for Jack Eichel just as they are seeing signs he may have been the right player to target.

In a vacuum the OP had value probably in the range of a trade simply apples for apples. But short of an solid overpayment Buffalo isn’t moving Tuch. He was just acquired. The Sabres are the team he wants to play for since he is from there. He is performing. And in all likelihood will be their next Captain.

He is worth more to Buffalo than to any other team.

I think value wise it’s prob a solid offer for Buffalo…. That being said I don’t think Buffalo is in need of more prospects/assets… they have other pieces they may move for more assets, but tuch should prob be part of the long term plans… specially if tuch wants to be there for the turn around , which it seems like he does

Pit down nhl 22…

Value wise utter f***ing useless crap for buffalo

remrmber there is

1 contract limit
2. salary cap floor

Tuch was a core piece in the Eichel trade. Not being trades for magic beans or expendable spare parts.

Then you have the factors of
1. He is from western my and grew up a sabres fan
2. He’s playing in buffalo at a 70+ point rate

It’s a really solid offer. However I will decline simply because he brings everything the Sabres need, outside of 3 positions (#1C, Top 4 defensively responsible RHD, #1G), and he could probably fill the latter two if he wanted.

How is it a real solid offer? How does that trade make the Sabres better now (it doesn't) or in the future ( total crap shoot)?
