Confirmed with Link: Alex Tuch (signed 8x$10.5M) to Washington for a 3rd Round Pick in 2027 and David Kampf

Alex Tuch is signing an 8-year contract extension worth $10.5M per year, but with the Washington Capitals. The Buffalo Sabres after not managing to get a deal done with Tuch, trade his rights for a 3rd round pick and forward David Kampf.

While many are thankful the Sabres didn't meet Tuch's asking price, the price he ends up going for would not have had the long-term consequences many would fear. If Tuch plays four or five really good seasons with the Capitals, they'll be perfectly happy with the deal they made.

Plus, the Sabres are being connected to Vincent Trocheck, who is likely to get traded away by the New York Rangers.

That must suck to just be thrown into a trade for no reason at all but just because, if I'm Kampf I'm not feeling all that special right now.

The ownership is being idiotic and has tied Botterill's hands in a way because they are delusional and think we are actually a good team close to making the playoffs every year. But I think they are learning the hard way right now because no one wants to waive to come to Seattle and the UFA market sucks outside of Tuch. So with him gone, atleast we hope that Botterill can save the team from himself.

Francis is not a good GM. Carolina really didn't start making any headway until he left. Don't know who was advising ownership, but they certainly didn't point them towards the best and brightest. They could've gotten Jeff Gorton.

Nah. Although they may be talking to Kampf early as a depth option? Weird. He was a good PKer in Toronto but there is no pop in his stick. He is where offense used to go to die in Toronto.

From what I've read, T.O. is the only place he wanted to go. Grew up a Leafs fan, comes from there and his dad passed away recently so probably wanted to be closer to family.

This is the most likely. There is not really any other reason. Maybe someone will ask Jarmo and alleviate our curious minds.

Jarmo in his presser mentioned having too many forwards and needing to make room for the talented youngsters pushing their way into the line-up. He named Helenius, Ostlund and Kulich. My guess is he's trying to find a D to replace Byram.
 
Really rattled here. First in the Atlantic to losing 2 key guys who didn’t want to be here (? Per jarmo). A lot of time but this team has 2 huge new holes to plug on top of general improvement to get past the 2nd round. It’s not feeling great
