Losing tons of sleep helping to take care of his newborn probably.

I am a dad of twins, and I know, this is a real thing.

But....he's a professional athlete that makes millions a year. Hire a night nurse and get a hotel if you have to.

I just don't think his issues this year are as easily explained as 'tired dad'.

Its not only about the money but the desire. Do you want to "miss" the time that is never coming back?

So, "this is a real thing" or it is not? Everything is relative... he is competing against professional athletes that make millions a year too. Maybe not entirely explained, but still valid in context. I thought he had a strong finish to the season and is probably a little miscast on this team (L1 scoring winger and top PP? - maybe, maybe not).

We'll never know. He was incredibly frustrating to watch, and I'm hoping it's due to being a tired dad + the coach not being able to get a system in place rather than injuries and/or him taking the offseason lightly/thinking they could coast to a playoff spot like most of the team did this year.

I probably wouldn’t consider it until next deadline but I also don’t know what teams are offering. Also I’m able to look at it with the clear eyes of knowing we will never be competitive under this management so does it really matter who I finish out of the playoffs with every year? No. By the time anyone can fix this disaster Tuch will be too old to help anyway. Our luck states we keep him next year, have a season like two years ago where we miss closer so he isn’t moved and then walks for nothing in free agency.

This deadline is honestly the worst time to trade tuch

The guy has a 4.75 cap hit, EVERY team can afford that and likely wants a player like tuch

Trading him at this deadline likely eliminates half the teams that would make an offer

It would be the wrong move barring drastic over payment like a first/teams top prospect and a current NHL player

I mentioned to a Kings fan, he has better scoring totals ES and 5-on-5 since arriving in Buffalo than Adrian Kempe does in LA in that same span... in 40 fewer games. What would a Kings fan want for Kempe?

Soooo... can someone explain to me why we're considering trading Tuch?

Has he lost his love of the game or are we just stupid?

NHL teams that aren't Buffalo and are trying to compete spend money, often right up to the limit of the salary cap. Tuch is underpaid by quite a bit for what he brings, ergo, he's an attractive asset to virtually every other team.

The fact that he's not paid a lot for what he brings makes me think that the Sabres will hold on to him.

I'm not. It would be monumentally stupid.

Granted, this big brain operation has a tendency toward stupid actions and at some point it wouldn't surprise me if he wants to be near his wife's family.

So I could see it happening based on either of those.
