Steen is so underrated. He's probably the second best forward on his team. He'd cost Vancouver a piece they have no interest in moving, something crazy like Horvat. Both sides likely just pass.
He's not underrated.
Are you kidding me?![]()
The play dies on his stick more often than not.
I dont see why the Blues woudl trade him at this point in their franchise cycle nor do I see why they Canucks should be dealing any asset for a player probably getting close to, if not already in, his decline.

Steen is absolutely underrated, lol.
The funny thing about him is he's gotten better with age too. He's wayyyy better now than he was when he was 26. He basically had a second breakout at age 29.
What would it take for the Canucks to land Alex Steen?
To the Canucks he's not. He's killed us for years, even back in the Leaf Uni.He's not underrated.
See above. He's not underrated to us. We know how good he is and that's why we don't wanna pay what it would take. How is he not underrated? He is never talked about nationally and is a top 15 Selke forward. I'm actually surprised to see the praise Steen has gotten in this thread. Was beginning to think people didn't even know who the guy was. While he had a down year offensively this year, the guy takes some of the toughest defensive minutes on the team and can easily chip in 20g-30-35a.
See above as well.Steen is absolutely underrated, lol.

And rightfully so. We aren't teams that would be making a deal right now.St.Louis would likely ask Juolevi or Horvat+
A swap of Daniel Sedin would make sense for you guys, since Danny can score at least a casual 20 every season. But how would we sell trading one?One of the Sedins with salary retained.
Decent comparison. I'd say Hossa is more individually talented, but Steen has been very steady and consistent. I'd say it'd come to preference between the two. He's kinda like the Blues version of Hossa on the Blackhawks (before Hossa's recent decline).
After what it took to get Eriksson, the trend of UFA's has been to more expensive than not. Steen has no ties to Vancouver other than choosing the highest offer, which I believe it'd take for him to come here in July. You can sign him for free when he hits UFA market.
